Default Trip Meter fluctuates

My WQ the trip meter reading has started to fluctuate. I can start off at 480 then it drops to 350 for a few K's then up to 430 for a few K's !!! It fluctuates up and down !! is this a faulty sender unit ?? and if so, which one ??
Thanks

Its the large top one, then theres a small meter reading, then the odometer.
It used to go down slowly from a full tank. Now, 70k up, it varies so much can be 100ks in a day !!! cheers
