We used to feel sorry for Jeep owners we had as clients and looked after them parts wise. Jeep buyers now are from a different segment of society, more your 'Toorak Taxi' lot and far more female owners. More likely to be 'looked after' by the stealership than an independent. Deep pockets a mandatory requirement

When these engines are out of puff at 4000 rpm, area under the curve is irrelevant, cause the curve is so damn small to start with. But that's pretty much the case with all diesels.

Trucks are diesels for a good reason and the 4JJ1-TC engine is used in 5 ton trucks. In a D-MAX therefore it will damn near last forever and tows exceptionally well. Who wants/needs RPM?

Jeep 1. for the old model Grand Cherokee/early model WK, fair enough. 2. for the new Cherokee, fair enough 3. ancient model Cherokee/GC 4. Old Chrysler 300 So, one recall for current models. Ford 1. Transit, fair enough 2. Fiesta, fair enough 3. FG Falcon/ Territory, fair enough Two recalls for current models. Holden 7 recalls so far, mostly for older models Toyota have 4 this year. Hyundai 3 Mercedes 5 There is no denying that in the past, Jeep have not done well but i'd suggest they are on the improve and will struggle to beat last years effort of 14 recalls (one of which is a vehicle not sold in Aust by them) given that they are now on par with other manufacturers 5 months into 2015... |

No idea what review you are talking about but a D-MAX isn't cheap, I know I was selling 'em! Tritons under $30k and D-MAX closer to $50K, quite a differential.

@SumoDog68, agree mate. There are also issues that simply shouldn't be there but aren't subject to recalls. Close to our own hearts, rear diff bushes on BA onwards Falcons, brake shudder in Falcons for instance. I just find it incredible that some will happily buy a Falcon and defend it (myself included) but lay crap on other brands. 8,000 odd K's on my diesel GC so far and it has and will have some minor warranty items fixed (just like my last few new Falcons) as I consider myself a little more picky than most, if over the years I have anything major, i'll be sure to start a thread in this forum as well as Jeepgarage. For any GC owners, here's a link to all TSB's/recalls - http://www.wk2jeeps.com/wk2_tsb.htm |

Kieron, you speak too much sense
Your experience is much like mine it seems. I am at 15000kms now and had a few minor warranty related issue sorted at the 10k service and all relevant TSBs applied. My only issue is that I am am putting to many kms on the GC, love driving the tank. See you over at jeepgarage...

I looked at and drove a lot of cars after my old one was written off in a storm last year. There's one thing I found, whatever make, whatever model, all you'll hear from everyone you know, and on every forum, are horror stories. Based on that we should not own cars at all.
Anyhow, the Jeep I did take for a drive was an older one, but it still was a lot nicer than most other SUVs I looked at. It'll be interesting to see what they come up with for luxury. |

I know everybody is having a field day here but I'm sure it'll all be a wake-up call to the company and a few years down the track they will produce good, reliable cars or else go under. Many manufacturers have been through this.
For them to get into my sights I'd like to see the poor interior space, weight and fuel economy improved. They fail on both design and reliability at the moment imho. A bit less American and a bit more European (not Fiat though!) in approach would do. |

The Daily Telegraph, like most English Tabloids is renown for sensationalising a story.
In the article they have listed a few trivial customer complaints where the customers have requested a refund of the vehicle. the complaints are stretched across a range of vehicles. point is if you did around for negatives, you will find plenty. you only need to read this forum to pick up worse complaints about our beloved Territory

There was a time when they were the Quality Workshop of the world. The English were astounded to find that the Merlin V12s produced in the US (for, among other things, the P-51) had better tolerances and were better put together than their originals. In my trade 1960's US built Skil electric planers are held in some sort of awe. Generations of pilots remembered "If it's not a Boeing, I'm not going..."; the Iowa class battleships served 50 years+, which is remarkable for a metal floating structure. It's no coincidence the Aussie car industry flourished post war using American drivetrain technology - unbustable 9" diffs, Windsors, Chevs and inline 6's.
And then, what happened?? W.Edwards Deming took quality production to Japan, and the America of Harley Earl devolved into the FWD-large-car-producing, poor quality, shocking dynamics maker of the 80's onward. Then in 1997 President Clinton signed the 'most favoured nation' agreement with China and what was left, was decimated. It is still a pleasure to find quality American built tools and homewares (such as Pyrex, the Kirby vacuum cleaner, Lie-Nielsen hand tools) and I really hope they rediscover their former mantle. If Jeep are making a Luxury model, target the reliability of the Landcruiser as well as the Luxury of the Merc or RR.

Our horse trimmer trimmer turned up this arvo in his mums Pajero again. The Jeep was trucked from the South Coast to the ACT as nobody down there would touch it. Sensor problem, then starter motor, and on it goes and still broken. It would be funny if he wasn't such a top bloke but now just wants it running for immediate sale. Gotta love Jeep owners!

A 12 year old boy was walking down the street when a car pulled up beside him and the window was wound down.
"I'll give you a bag of lollies if you get in the car" said the male driver. "No way, get stuffed" replied the boy. "How about a bag of lollies and $10.00 ?" asked the driver. "No way" replied the irritated youngster. "What about a bag of lollies and $50.00 eh ?" quizzed the driver, still rolling slowly to keep up with the walking boy. "No, I'm not getting in the car !" answered the boy. "Ok, I know what you want. I'll give you $100.00 and a bag of lollies" the driver offered. "NO" screamed the boy. "What will it take to get you in the car ?" asked the driver sighing. The boy replied "Listen Dad , you bought a Jeep - you live with it"
