So many reasons why it can't happen - The 'Vette is exactly like the Mustang, an iconic brand in it's own right. No way will GM let it be badged as a Holden No RHD. A converted 'Vette would have to be done after-market by the likes of HSV, adding to the base cost, the thing will be upwards of $100K, out of reach of traditional Holden Commodore SS buyers. The Camaro would be the best candidate for this if anything! |

It's quite ironic that after decades of staying true to the '(v8 powered) halo cars + motorsport sponsorship' ethos (that it shares with it's parent) Holden will be left without a RWD v8 halo model, while Ford Oz (for all it's inconsistency in terms of support from the US and it's own approach to the Aussie marketplace and it's fans) is gifted a rip snorter halo model in the new Mustang (V8 and 4-pot for those inclined)

Maybe Holden have another trick up their sleeve and something else will come along, or they are predicting the Mustang will not be around for long.

Maybe they have another trick...but i doubt it.
Even if they were banking on Mustang not being around for long it still doesn't change the fact that thirty odd years of HDT/HRT/SS/HSV etc lineage will be broken and with no (real) equivalent, most customers will be left with no Holden badged car to upgrade to. |

GM did register the name 'Monza' recently, but that will be a FWD coupe, not a big, banging v8 like the Camaro.

what you said is somewhat correct, but a little off topic to what I was trying to explain. There are australians in many positions behind our large companies that don't understand how to listen to their customers. We are way behind the USA in that department. I said back some years ago that the Mitsubishi Australia plant would close and become town houses.. and was laughed at by many. The former managing director of Mitsubishi OZ would speak of the new Magna VRX as if it's a supercar.. in his mind only. Customers are the ones buying, not the creators. Too many Australians create their own reality in their mind based on what they want to be, not what actually is.. Actually LISTENING to and UNDERSTANDING what your customers WANT. |

Trust me, American manufacturers don't listen to the customer, either.

Exactly. Everyone says they are too big but once you get outside the city areas their size isn't relevant really. I know heaps of guys, myself included, who would buy one in a heartbeat but refuse to pay the ridiculous prices asked by the RHD conversion joints.
Ram, Tundra, F series, Silverado, whichever one gets here first factory RHD and priced to reflect that will sell well. |
