Saw the Colorado ad where a Toyota owner was asked if he would swap his Hilux for a Colorado.Of course any one would swap a 10 Y.O Hilux for a new Colorado.Don't know whether a swap new for new would happen though

The revised front end design on the Colorado looks good imo.
Still not in the league of a Ranger or Hilux though.

I think that anyone driving a Hilux would want to get out of it and swap it for just about anything else after seeing this.
Just goes to show that a 5 car safety crash test and reverse camera aren't the only things to take into consideration when buying a new car.

I would still rather a 10 year old hilux instead of a new Colorado, but you would be stupid not to swap given its value as a new car it would be worth a lot more. Sell it again and buy a couple of Hiluxs

Problem is the Hilux that is sold here doesnt have the same suspension tune as anywhere else. So its not exactly relevant.

I got a ride in a new Colorado the other day with ÜBER. It was the equivalent of a Wildtrak ranger.
I found the seats absolutely horrendous to sit in, although it looked OK the seats just made it feel really cheap.

These things are a barking dog, Boss has one & its rubbish, suspension is terrible and the seats are like ironing boards. Makes for a back injury anytime.

we hate them at work got rid of them too much trouble : engines using heaps of Oil we have had 3 engine changes all had there suspension bushes done rear leaf spring bushes splitting ,recall for batteries we had 2 batteries melt under the bonnet diff input pinions leaking and so on so on

Friend purchased 2 for his business brand new, both diesels. As above, both used a LOT of oil, try 1.5 litres per 5000km, then had both engines replaced under warranty, still doing the same thing. Rear bushes as well. So many squeaks and rattles, he's had enough and is getting rid of them. Poor bugger is a Holden man through and through and is gutted.

As much as Holden would like prospective buyers to think, it's no Hilux or Ranger.

The new one is an improvement on the old one, but the price point and quality proves its still "Junk".

my brother in laws is the same, motor went bang at 127km, motor went bang at 30k, battery melted at 50k, and uses a lot of oil. the new ones look ok but you would never buy one

Customer has one and we do a bit of servicing on it, noticed it was burning a fair bit of oil between services.

We have one at work and it has been nothing but trouble. Mostly electrical problems.
We also have a 2012 Hilux which is nothing special, but the Hilux keys always disappear of the hook before the Colorado' does.

We are about to get some new Colorado's at work. I was ignored when I suggested Rangers. Interesting to see what happens

been told if they use more than 2 Ltr Oil per 10,000 Kms they change engines but you have to get a Holden dealer to monitor the Oil

I believe our contract geniuses will pay about $48,000 for a 4WD twin cab poverty pack Colorado, surely when purchasing 20 of these they could of got a better price!!

Just over 24 hours with the new Colorado, first impressions:

Looks ok.Drivers seat, not comfortable, feels like you're sitting on hard plastic.
Drives ok, but there seems to be a bit of lag.Gear box isn't too bad but feels a but notchy, I like the short gear leaver, not much feel to the clutch.

A bit surprised with the fuel consumption, with cruise control set at 100 in 6th gear it is using between 9 and 10.3 litres per 100 k's. Maybe the engines is still a bit tight, but I thought it would be a lot better. My SZII 4.0L Territory gets 9.5-10 litres per 100k's cruising at 100. Aircond works good. The reverse beeper carked it within a couple of hours, but I think it's an aftermarket one. The reverse camera is next to useless. Will be interesting to see how it goes in the long run.
