Default Trouble launching pursuit

Hey guys, finally got to the Plex last night and had half a dozen runs.

Was running yoko R spec on rear. 18".
Was not able to beat my PB even though the ute is stronger and had tyres this time.
When I finally managed to control wheelspin, I started getting axle tramp.

13.66 was the best I got last night and 104mph.

Any suggestions, I tried all sorts of methods and still could not match my PB.

Had fun though

Happy Easter
John

My best 60' was with my Dunlops. 2.1 with 40psi.

You have a small amount of gain to be had by getting the big tank moving better from the line, but 2.2 is respectable in cars like ours, especially manuals with 2 tonne on there back.

Don't forget you have to deal with taller gearing than me, and alot of the 'drag' Pursuits and XR8's run different diff ratios, along with the auto.

Just so you know how hard the manuals are to get good times out of, Nizpro just went the first manual 'T' in 11's @ 11.90 last week with 420rwkw in a manual with 4 link and diff ratio change.

Not easy...

Kev-XR8ute on these forums did a 1.79 60' last weekend at the LS1 nationals, but thats all he did before he lunched his gearbox.

A good cluth, diff gears and your times should drop.

Diff gears would help, and great if drag racing is the be-all and end-all about a cars performance.

There has to be a trade off somewhere, whether it be a good drag car, or a comfortable multi purpose ute.

I know everyone says the same thing, work on your 60'. Even with completely stock good street rubber you can acheive a 2.0 60'. It's just a matter of discovering the hookup that will take you to the 60' line without wheelspin or a hiccup, around 2000-2500rpm, more on sticky rubber. Dropping that 2 tenths in your 60' should drop your E.T. by 4 tenths, should!

I do have some more plans very shortly, Ceramic button clutch, 4.11 diff gears, oil pump gears, underdrives and a better airbox. My 60ft time should improve when I get the launch right, and if I do that my mph should get a bit better I suppose.

Also I was on the weighbridge for scrutineering and it came in at 1985kg with my race wheels in the back. Bloody heavy vehicle, but luxury is the trade off eh ?

Also tried out the Beltronics G meter. Set it up with a rough vehicle weight (in pounds) and it was within .05 seconds most of the night. An interesting bit of gear

Thanks everyone for input. I know this is a very revisited topic, and you are spot on Phantomxr8.

It seems that 3500 with R spec rubber is a bit to much to not wheelspin

I run 4.11's in my Pursuit auto, and it is still good to drive on the highway, revs are up about 400rpm at 100kph, but its a killer off the line with the 3500 converter, 1.81 60' times.
