I am looking at buying an EBII SXR6 which has non factory fitted LPG tank. I have been tolld that they will forever be in the shop due to tank and head trouble. Is there anyone who owns or knows someone who owns one that can give me some good advice.
P.S the car has 130,000km. Thanks, Cameron. |

All Falcons have head trouble, if the head gasket is replaced properly you should nearly get 200,000km out of a gasket.
As for the LPG, tank troubles? unless the aftermarket tank that constantly explodes, or wasnt installed properly, or leaks, it should not cause you any trouble |

The 4.0i engine is a good unit. EBII is far better than EBI (which is basically like an EA). My parents have an EBII GLi wagon and it has done 230,000 kms, still on it's original gasket, and running beautifully. The XR6 obviously has more power than the GLi but reliability would be pretty much the same. The only major problem it had was a burnt out clutch (It's manual) and they owned it since new. If the car is looked after, it should be quite reliable. With 130,000 kms, the S-XR6 sounds like it's hardly run in. Good luck with it.
