Sounds like free advertising to me!

The guy bought it with the intention of doubling his cash. I'm surprise he doesn't sue for the loss of profit!

If he wants, I can drop a Clevo and 4 speed in it, then it'll go further that 10 blocks... ;)

I don't think it matters what type of car you buy, if you brought a brand new car for $60,000 dollars, and found out the engine was completely buggered would you still not take that to court if the company had failed to reimburse you or give you a new one?

Hell, I could be a multi millionaire and still take this to court, the fact is he was sold something that was suppost to work but didn't, I hope he teaches Mercedes a lesson.

Thats right. He paid big $$$$ for a product that doesn't work. It should be repaired or money back. We arn't talking about a $20,000 new car. $2,310,000 is a lot. I would expect to be treated like a king by the dealership. Dealer's have done a lot more for cars a lot less.

Wouldn't he just ask Mercedes to replace it?

Not instantly sue them?

Surely if it's a lemon Mercedes would just repair/replace as needed until it's up to scratch.

Definitely seems like an excuse to get free publicity as "sueing" them instantly grabs the media's attention, whereas the car being returned for repair/replacement wouldn't grab much interest at all.

Yeah surely there would be some kind of privellge club that you are in once you spend that kind of cash...

Im sure Merc would of helped him out, but he would rather squell like a pig.

I'm sure he would of dealt with Mercedes before launching a legal battle. Hardly free publicity, court costs big money.

Usual stance with any Car Manufacturer is if it breaks they will fix it - not not replace

My Dad purchased a Car and in the First Week the transmission broke, radio stuffed, car didnt start....

He didnt want that car anymore as it was a lemon but they would not give him a new one, they would only replace the parts when they broke

Fair enough if it was 6 months down the track but it was 1 week old.........

He didnt want a repaired new car he wanted a new car

Hell, if it didn't break down, they'd wind up sueing Mercedes when it flipped over backwards on the freeway....

And notice the manufacturers positions (http://www.topgear.com/content/featu...ries/01/3.html). The top 5 are Japanese except for only one European - Skoda. The bottom 5 are French - and Mercedes. You're better off with a Ford frankly.

Maybe some people need to realise that the media spin thigns whatever way they want, and he may have requested the car to be repaired, but theres no fun in that story, so the media deletes that bit out, and he is automatically sueing them

not saying this is what hapened, but people have to stop beleiving everything they read ZOMG IT WAS ON THE INTERNET THINGY ITS GOT TO BE TRUE

Id say the guy just doesn't know how to drive. Didn't let her warm up and started to trash it went it was cold. Bound to happen on a highly tuned engine.
