If I'd known that was to be the replacement for the 'lane and the LTD, I would have pushed for an earlier retirement. I'd imagine the 245kw 'mont (if it went ahead) would ship with the 6-speed auto as standard. It would be a seriously nice piece of motoring hardware! Not very Ford-like though... I have my doubts. |

Can't wait to see it. And if this rumour of the Ghia Turbo is true, awesome! I know there have been a lot of suggestions on these forums for a Ghia Turbo, so if it happens, it should sell well. If I had the money, I'd buy a Ghia Turbo before I'd buy an XR6 Turbo with luxury interior pack.

Well i hope they make the Turbo Monte a better build than the BA. We sold ours for the AU3 XR8 because it was basically an uninspiring car that had an ever so slightly better design dash than the base models. A lil tighter on the suspention with some wheels that aren't dead ugly and that could be a real winner.

About time, its been long overdue !!! Now just wating for the boss to be shoe horned in as well, at least someone is showing some iniative. Turbo ghia should be standard but it might take away a GT sale or two imo.
Bring it on Ford, another modifiers delight !!! :1syellow1 |

It's stupid for all those people that wanted the turbo with Fairmont gear ended up buying a V8 model will be not to happy right now.
People like my brother who over 12months ago bought a 6 Fairmont but wanted the Turbo with all the Fairmont ghia stuff had to choose. When i tell him he wont be happy.

Of course he won't be happy, but you can't hold off buying a car hoping something better will come along. The BA was replaced, the atmo Territory has had a turbo attached to it, the base XT got more power, and a better gearbox. Your brother can always trade in his 12 month old car... if the product gets to production. |

hmm I am still suspicious, from what I heard it was more of a cooling issue than anything else. XR's have nice big intakes, Ghias dont.
I would be lining up for sure, but it HAS to have a manual option. And dont give me that rubbish about complexity. I know the T56 is a POS, but some people want proper sports luxury. Ie - BMW 530i

Its just that Ford seems to find crap reasons to can good products. : And when they finally do make good products, its either by accident or they are forced into the position.

But back on track now he was about to buy a XR6 but really wasn't happy with the interior loved the look but. But over 12 months have past and he has been on and off work with a injure at work so when he got the BA he had $7000+ as a deposit to start out. Now he just can't do it. So he will need to wait and that is the part that will cheese him off it's what he really wants, If he knew about it earlier he would have keeped his old EF longer i know him. To be honest the turbo should have always been a option on the ghia.

:yeees: There is no reason why they couldn't do it other than laziness. Its a XR6T with a better interior and different bumpers. Unless of course you can think of osmething else, other than the plant having sook about complexity.

Not everyone likes the XR look, not that its bad, but some people want a classy looking car that hammers. And because there is such a lack of mechanical difference, it makes the reasons for not building it even poorer. There will be a ghia turbo one day, they are just taking their sweet time with it for no good reason.

The new Fairmont Ghia looks very nice. It has the XR sideskirt and rear bar. Also the head lights are a bit different too.
