The 2.2l engine is 133kw and 420nm,I was impressed with how well it performed...plenty of power for overtaking and towing.and I would say it wouldn't have any problem with 3.5t on my experience with it towing 2.7t.
But no it isn't a sports car.

As for durability, they offer one of the best warranties in the market with 7 years unlimited km and fixed service pricing.

I agree with the dealer network, there are only 3 in Sydney which suits us,as we are only down the road...but if there is ever any problems with the vehicle ssangyong will back there product and search for a local mechanic to do the work under there warranty and parts.

We are happy with our purchase,my dad has owned 3 ssangyongs in the past and never had any troubles with them.
I was set on getting the ranger, they still look the best in my opinion but the price difference and warranty was hard to pass up...if anyone is still a bit skeptical, book in a test drive I think you would be impressed.

Ssangyong is in the middle of bankruptcy. Would you seriously consider buying a car from a company going bankrupt?

Think some buyers use price as a guide and hope that the backup is there if needed.personally I question why people were so keen to buy Falcons when Ford said they were closing down.Manfacturers only have an obligation to supply spares for a limited amount of time, we are now hearing of some parts already N.L.A whilst the cars are still good and not really all that old.Who knows what Ford might think of the Oz market in years to come, they may do like GM and walk away. The threat of a $10m fine won’t worry them at all

Knew someone who bought a JMC ute, engine died inside warranty. But the company doesn't exist here anymore!
Original selling dealer ended up helping them out, but took 6 months for it to be back on the road.

They are in a receivership,I dought it will end in bankruptcy...but if it did,the warranty would still be valid threw the dealership.

I am sure it can tow 3.5t as my dmax can but not sure on safety or the legality of it doing so (have not checked its specs ,weights and size etc),did like the look of it with the Mags etc for the price, looked good and I am sure you will have No issues with it either.

IF the dealer has access to parts!! i presume you mean through the dealer not threw. The problem with receivership is that the receiver will sell off everything, and often the parts stock gets sold to an independent party, which has no liablilty to supply parts to the dealer or the customer.Parts may be available but at your cost not the dealers. And prices will most likely double or triple the current list price

Yes good point the parts are the big question mark....but with parts all you need to do is find the part number and the manufacturer of that part, most of the time the parts used are common parts used in a wide variety of different vehicles.

Now i feel like a ssangyong salesman lol,my main point here before this gets into a debate and leads of topic,is that we are happy with our purchase and would recommend this vehicle to others, and from personal experience with this vehicle i would back the 3500kg towing capability.

The main thing is that you are happy with your purchase and I sincerely hope you don’t have any warranty experiences like I outlined

There is a 80km Speed restriction when towing so not sure where that leaves you if you had a accident if exceeding that! Appears there is always a catch with dual cabs.

Took a Iveco Daily van for a cruise, very nice, drove nice even with nothing in the Back, auto very smooth, would like the 210hp/470Nm option motor but a long wait for it from the factory so not sure the 180hp/430Nm will be enough loaded?

There are lots of rules regarding towing that most states have and most people are just unaware they exist. They aren't readily enforced either.

Have you seen 4xoverland YouTube channel? A WA based Pom who from memory has done a few videos on the 4x4 Daily.
180hp and 430nm is around the same as a 70 series. The Iveco will probably use half the fuel and go just as well.

Looking at the van version ,the 4x 4 s dollar wise get up there real quick .Vans payload is 1.9t and tows 3.5t ,as we live in the caravan full time .space for stuff is always a problem hence the van idea and they drive real nice.Years gone by had a transit for the boys mx and we went all over in that and loved it so we will see.

I'd be more inclined to wait for the higher rated variation but I drive like a moron so YMMV

Saw an IVECO 4X with a caravan parked in Euroa this morning, looked like a pretty capable bit of kit.

Well went into a Nissan dealer on Saturday to look at the New Patrol,As we were walking in spied a second hand one sitting by its self ,turns out it had just been traded on the one we went to look at,Series 4 ,20kms ,Tow bar, second battery etc etc ,All set up for Towing,So we now own a Y62 Patrol,Next stop exhaust shop.I think this was always on the cards(The little V8 man in my head)but did not go out on Saturday thinking I would be buying a Patrol,A few weekends ago we did a over night fishing trip to the beach which we do and this i think changed our mind on anything that was Not 4x4 as we really enjoy these Nights/Days parked on the beach, the fishing is not even that important its more Just being there by the ocean.Yes the fuel bill is going to greatly increase but I presently live 5kms from Work so bike to/from work, the Patrol will be a weekend Warrior hopefully. If anyone knows someone who wants a Very Tidy/Fast 80 LTD send them my way.

Buy one hell of a lot of petrol for the difference in cost of the Patrol compared to a 200.I presume somewhere around $80k compared to well over $100 for a Cruiser. The Patrol might use a bit more fuel but diesel seems to be dearer than petrol so your $/km might not be a lot different

Have a watch of this, it shows there is basically no difference in fuel consumption between the Toyota Landcrusier 200 and the Nissan Patrol Y62. I have mates with both that we 4wd with and this is what we see as well. Too many ill-informed fanboys out there.

One DPF replacement could buy you enough fuel to drive around the country. Almost.
I can't see myself in a diesel at the moment. Petrol is the way to go. I would love a y62 as my next car.

the main things i liked my diesel above my petrol v8 4wds
is i can get diesel in more out the way places when i go touring (even to the fact that ive needed to borrow from a station and the odd truckie when under estimating where i went off road
and the off road soft sand or hard surface soft under (when you break thru the surface layer) 4wd'ing is i dont have to rev the petrol in fear of it stalling as apposed to lower reving more torque diesel same situation
other wise i was more than happy with the f truck and explorer v8 4wds ive had
