Here we go....... A lot of Euro/Brit stuff here..

1988 Volvo 740GL, 2-litre. Bought off parents and totally indestructable. Owned it for 5 years

1986 Ford Scorpio 2.8 Cologne V6 4x4. One of the first Mark 3 Granadas. Ex police-car. ate clutches and CV joints, but stuck to the road like anything Owned for a year, ran out of money, sold it to the Ford Granada Owners Club and bought....

1989 Ford Sierra 1.6GL. Slow, I mean real slow. Had a 2-litre diff in it which meant it was even slower.... I put Cosworth wheels on it and RS spoiler and bodykit. Slowly eaten by rust and stripped and scrapped in favour of.........

1981 Ford Cortina MkV 2-litre pinto. I guess this would be the TE model here? Autobox and power steering, and fishnet recaros'. wonderful cruiser and quite rapid - even more rapid with a Capri 3-litre Weber carb and a Kent cam....failed roadworthyness test so stripped and scrapped in favour of....

1980 Series 3 Landrover 2.25 petrol. Ex-British Army Signal regt. 12V soft-Top LWB. Rolled by the Squaddies in Bosnia, re-built by me in my spare time as I project while I was working for the Army. New chassis, new body, pretty much new everything, used for military displays, re-enactments etc. Sold for a very good price to pay for the deposit on a house - probably the only car I've made money on!...

1986 Volvo 740SE. Back to boring again! But fitted with 7x15" 760 GLE alloys, Half-leather interior, turbo grille, and boot spoiler. Written off in an accident. I cried when the insurance company wrote the car off! Loved that car.... odd I know.

1992 Range-Rover Vogue SE. Brought in a moment of madness (probably concussion....) how to loose all of your money very very quickly. Lucas, The prince of Darkness' own personal chariot, but such a wonderful and thirsty engine that 3.9 V8 Sills eaten by rust, so stripped and scrapped.

1996 Rover 214i. known as the Honda Concerto/Ballade over here. Probably one of Rover's best cars. But with the 1.4 K-series engine meant it ate Head Gaskets for breakfast, actually very reliable whilst I owned it.

1994 LandRover Discovery. Off-road toy. Owned for 5 months. Head Gasket went, and Bulkhead afflicted by tin worm, so stripped and scrapped.

1999 Volvo S40. bought 3 months before I emigrated here, basically a rebadged Mitsubishi Charisma. Good runabout but thats about it. Fairly dull.

1986 Volvo 360GLT. Bought when I got over here, lasted me nearly three years ,and far far more reliable than any 25 year-old 1000-dollar car had any right to be! One of the very few left on the roads here, and still going! Sold to a guy I work with.



I dunno whether I'd have any of these cars again. Would like a Volvo 740 Turbo, but I really feel this is the wrong country for old Volvos
