Actually I had my doubts, but let me assure you that this development for the HAD is bloody amazing

Regardless of driving style the converter will manage both, and not to cause debate, the local car park has proven that under load or just punching it from stand still will light the wheels up nicely.

The ability to utilise the full 1 to 1 ratio under load has an amazing reaction on launch and will definitely leave many wondering what the hell just happened.

JMM are on a winner and I couldn’t commend them more on this component

This is the best news us EF-AU falcon Auto modders have had for years.

A way around the slack launch.

An no LIMP HOME?

Only if abused to the endth degree., ie 20 odd seconds of stalling it up over 3000 revs and heating the oil

The JMM kits comes with a larger oil cooler which helps with this issue

This sounds like its a bloody good thing.

1 QUICK question. Its fantastic this converter is not dropping the car into LHM, however if people by the converter and fit it will it have the same result, or if fitted at JMM, do you employ ecu trickery to keep it out of limp home mode?

If its 100% mechanical, you boys have designed a ripper!!

As far as I understand, you fit stall, make sure you have a big cooler up the front, refill your fluid, then go and drag as many woggodores as you can find.

I am not sure on the JMM price, but normally you would be looking at $200+ for a good quality cooler from some where like Repco or Autobarn.

Good to hear some posive talk guys, thanks

From model EF and Up there is no problems with limp home mode, only in some early ea and eb falcons it occurs, however that is an AUTO control ECU that fixes the problem apparently.

CURRENTLY the special fitted price of $1000 including converter, cooler, oil and labour will continue on thru JUNE 2005.

Converter price is $650 and base model ideal cooler is $185 and drag coolers are $290
for those who want one sent to them.......

Regards

brenden

AND Yes, Laminge's car does GOOOOOOD Wheelies, but I wouldn't know that ;)

Hi Brendan, this sounds like a ripper stall, will the stall work without the limp home mode regardless of torque and power the car makes...
I seen the more torque the easier it went into limp home mode..
Also I would be very keen to talk to you about trying a Hi Stall in a BA XR8.
Any thoughts if it would work?
Thanks.

Haven't tried the stall in a v8 yet, however similar stall speeds are expected because of power levels. When I look further into the limp mode system I will have a definate answer. EF to EL v8's should be ok !

Its basically the same auto gearbox in all the falcons (BTR) so it will fit just fine.

I concur mate, the converter is the limiting factor in the BA deal.
If JMM can sort this problem, It will be the biggest breakthrough this year full stop.

FPV Xr8,

The BA converter can be made and tried if you like, the NA 6's and turbo sixes shouldn't be a worry either.

Dad's BA Xr6T will be the first donor, then and xr8 will be next in line.

What sort of reduction in 60ft or 1/4 mile time could be expected for most cars? My car is an XR6 VCT Auto with 17s, Mandrel exhaust and soon to be (2weeks) mandrel headers too.

Will G-tech the car before and after Headers. Have just borrowed a mates for the first time and yet to use it at all.

Am planning a long way ahead i know, but next year i'm driving down for the commonwealth games and i reckon that and a unichip will make for alot of fun!

Limphome is a mode of operation programmed into the ecu.

If the ecu thinks the transmission is failing ie slipping too much it will go into LIMPHOME mode where all you have is third and reverse no matter what gear you select.

Its to allow you to limphome!

Ok boys and girls, I have a EL Fairmont with a dead auto, im looking at replacing it with either a T5 or EF gearbox (one with a dipstick so i can service the thing myself) and im just wondering whats the best way to go

the EL is my daily driver, already got some pacemakers and in future would be looking at a small cam. Already got the 3.45 gears. Should i jump on the bandwagon with the T5, or try one of these stalls? Is gearbox life affected in any way? I'll never pay for a reco auto, buying through wreckers everytime I kill one will be the way to go
