Speaking of Towbars, am about to get one fitted to my Ute & am wondering if anyone could tell me the approx price for a HD Haymen & does it require a hole to be made in rear bumper?
After I get it I plan to park in front of this Morons house Thanks in advance. |

Mr Scrubby needs a damn good scrubbing , me thinks . ( a wire brush comes to mind)
Most of those Pic's are of extreme situations . Anyone got 2-3 kids who like to go for a bike ride ? "Naa kids , you've got to leave your bikes at home and you can get "fat" because we're not allowed to take your bikes , it's very dangerous" . Ever tried fitting 3 kids & 3 bikes in a car (or wagon) , Scrubly has got to be kidding ! I've had the kid's bike rack on the back of the car 100's of times , Hell , if you can't see it you need a "white cane & seeing eye dog" (no offence meant) . I can see the point of the Ball obscuring the Number Plate , if you're not using it continuously , only " Plus " in the whole thing . I've got a socket that fit's the ball & the Ball is on the trailer all the time (saves losing it) : In NSW , if your plates are "faded" , they're replaced at "no charge" and you can order the same numbers , also free of charge , this happened to my Mrs a few years ago . On the RWC , it suggested replacement , that was done no dramas . ( just went to RTA & ordered them ) Where will this guy stop = No driving lights if they "protrude" from the car , No rear-vision mirrors , they "protrude" from the car , bumper over-riders , No rear wipers on wagons , No bumpers , You could keep going ==== The way it's going the old saying " Be responsible for you own Actions " will be a thing of the Past , it very nearly is . Already a thief who breaks into "your" House , Business , Car etc. he has more right's than "you" . Scrubby must use a glove for a condom === I'll let you take it from there ? Norm

I have the heavy duty Hayman reece with the removable hitch too but I'm now thinking I should always leave it in. Anyone that walks that close to my car deserves a fair whack on the shin, there is absolutely no need whatsoever to ever walk that close to the back of someone elses car.

RedXR347 yea mate , I agree with you there . We've had our Wagon rear wiper "bent up" twice (pre tow bar) when someone caught their clothes on it , the tow bar would have kept them further away and we wouldn't have to have bought another ones . Lol Norm

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Article on Tow bars & Bike Racks Dear Sir I belong to a Car Forum of nearly 36,000 members , where there is a discussion about the "Above Topic" on your Internet site . It has been been brought to our attention and noted , that a "number" of the images supplied , show that they were taken on the "Open Road" from the "Drivers Side" of the pursuing vehicle . If the article is so concerned Re:- the above topic , we thought there might have been some concern regarding the legality of a person who is "supposed" to be in control of a moving vehicle whilst being on a "Public Road" , taking photographs of "Dangerous , but legal , fittings " on other road users cars , I think would be more dangerous and illegal than the fitting on the cars ? Looking forward to your reply - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I'm going to see what their answer is , Hahaha . Hey , Outbackjack , Good score ,mate . There's a few good articles on there , need more time to read up on them . See what comes out of this one and will get back . Norm

most of those towbars in those pics are just add on bike racks or just ones that block the number plates.
ive got spotties and towbars on both of my cars, the spotties are essential and the towbar gets used all the time.he can shove it in his butt if he thinks ill take them off.

Here what I got.....
Mr XXXXXX With a road toll which is 4 times the national average (and the highest in the OECD nations) and subsidised by all Australians, we have every right to campaign for laws which bring the NT into line with the rest of Australia. We're very proud to have been the driving force behind the changes. As a result, in time, the NT toll will reduce to an average in line with the rest of Australia. Harold Scruby PCA

This was my answer to him. We have to give him credit. He is willing to anser his critics and argue for what he bellieves in. Even if he is mis giuded.
Dear Mr Scruby, I think that you missed the point of my question. Of course you have very right to campaign for road safety issues. But I think that you must agree that you did not, and stil do not, understand the driving conditions here in the NT. Therfore it would be prudent of you to step aside and let those that do understand the driving conditions here take a leading role. The CLP here in the Territory are advocating the following. We are hopefull that we can push forward after the next election with some reforms that WILL actually make a difference. These changes will include the following: Much tougher drink driving laws. Much tougher seat belt laws. Much tougher crowding laws. Mandatory driver training for 4X4 drivers. More vigilant policing of road worthy vehicles Encourage new/young drivers to drive lower powered cars for their first years of driving. Re-evaluate the open road speed limit. It would seem that the Clare Martin government did not take the tough descisions for fear of alienating their voter base. We believe that road safety goes beyond political prudence with the electorate. All the best, XXXXX XXXXXX, Alice Springs, NT.

Im so sick and tierd of laws and rules being made up because poeple cant take responsabilty for them selves. It's always someone else's fault, someone has to pay!
the example of the tow bar.... WATCH WHERE THE F#@K YOUR GOING. so what, you get a little bruise, a bit of pain for a couple of hours, and then you make sure you dont do it again. It' called learning from your mistakes :

I've had 2 roadworthys done on my car, and neither time did I take the tongue off. Neither time, was there a problem with it. I did have the tongue off recently, but I've put it back on, because I need to get a trailer so I can get a new bonnet. Just another ridiculous law to stop people from doing stupid things and injuring themselves. As far as I'm concerned, if anyone hit my towbar, they are too close to my car.

So so true. I go for a run (or walk depending on the day) 4-5 times a week and I don’t seem to have this problem of hitting tow bars. Is there something wrong with my technique? "oh look at tow bar, I'll run in to it" why are there walking so close other peoples cars anyway. Maybe those flame throwers they fit to cars in Brazil (anti hi-jacking thing ) would fix the problem. Besides, tow bars do great things for rice burners with front mounted intercoolers that are driven by di^kheads that can’t stop as quick as you can!. That’s my rant – thank you for your time |

im pretty sure that the towbar/ball on the back of my panelvan has saved me from a few speeding fines, so its staying.
even though one time i had a cop suggest i remove it due to it covering the number plate. "yeah sure mate, didnt realise that"

Knees everywhere are celebrating.
Personally I unbolt them from my cars when not in use. Not because I care about pedestrians but because I am a tightarse and would rather reduce the weight and save fuel.

Man, there's an old saying - "Don't argue with idiots - they drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience."
Scruby is irrelevant - As slick as his press releases are, and as concerned as he looks being interviewed on slow new days, he has never had any political power, he currently has no political power, and he never will have any.

If unused towbars are infact "illegal" please explain why so many driving school instructors cars have them fitted (each time you sit for a licence they check these basic things, lights, tyres etc.), not to mention Vicroads cars, and even police vehicles.
As for them obstructing the view of licence plates, thats the same with anyhting, nothing is allowed to block the view of licence plates.

Well, there is approx 21,102,057 people in Australia (according to wiki). So for his estimate to be wrong, we need at least 0.16% to agree that open speed limits should be allowed. Thats 33,763 people. This forum alone has 35,915. Not to mention ALL the other car forums in this country. Assuming even 75% of them agree (personally I think it's higher than that) that leaves us with 26,936 people. Get 75% off of LS1 (23,684 members, thats 17763) gives 44699. Skylines forum (34154 members, gives 25612) total 70315. The ever popular nissansilvia.com (34491, gives 25868) brings us to 96183 The other ford website (22617 gives 16963) gives a total of 113146. And thats not all of them but I give up. So 5 minutes of quick maths gives at least 113146 people who agree with open speed limits. Thats 0.54% of the population. So there : Yes, I am bored and counting down the minutes to hometime!

It would have been quite Awkward about 10 years ago when I had my BMW (Blue Mazda Wagon ) . To install it , you removed the original bumper and installed the new part , it included "tail light guard , mounting brackets , bumper and Tongue " all one piece , the Tongue was "welded" to the 2" x 3" tube bumper .
Pretty hard taking off 8 bolts every day , and then have no bumper at all

I sell and fit towbars : I guess I need to look for a new job haha
On a serious note, ive had 2 customers that have been sued for leaving the "TOW BALL MOUNT" on and some loser has walked into and hurt themselves in some way. 2 customers in 3 years of selling towbars. We now have to sell our towbars with rubber SHIN protectors to help combat this problem so "WE" dont get sued back! This world is just going stupid when ppl just blame others for there own stupidity. As far as we are aware, towbars on the front are aloud as long as the car does not have Airbags(towbars arnt are bag compliant) and can be fitted to a vheicle that it does not protude infront of the bumper/chassis or any point exposedin any what way. Most people with large boats use them and some 4wds for recovery points. Bike racks arent aloud on the rear of the car while driving if there is no bikes on the rack. They are ment to to be put away. As far as i was aware this is due to number plate obscuring for MR plod to take nice photos when you mess up. Anyway i doubt they will be able to get rid of them, but may force people to have to take the tow ball mount off when not towing. Which i think probly is in law in some states. Defintly have to be removed if it is any where near the number plate. I will sell more $10 spanners now for Light Duty towbars |
