I stand firm in saying that the Commodore is not all that different from the VZ, even in terms of looks. It's just overweight, having consumed too much protein powder, along with its fair helping of Schwarzeneggar approved testosterone products.

As for the pumped up steroid induced freak...If this were a description of a man would you pick a fight with him, most wouldn't, some heroes would. Ford have always been conservative, scared to get in ya face, which is why they deliver decal specials. Nothing to fear bar the i6 turbo, and that is going soon too. |

The much unloved AU was released with a 29k price tag new (Forte) - far less than the VT Commodore, but the Falcon still failed to sell. So it's not always a case of price either. BAs also have many more reliability issues than the AU model that preceded it. I've also owned every model from the XD and will be getting an FG soon. Have driven 100s of BAs.

FoA have done the wrong thing for years by not listening to customers' concerns and needs in the same manner that other manufacturers do.

Not always, the BA was in effect an AU with the bits people did not like changed, sometimes it just takes a while. Perhaps they may listen again one day.

The 380 was pretty good car too and look what happened to it.
Ford shot it self in the foot in 1988 with the EA debacle, the public forgave Ford by buying shedloads of EF and EL falcons to which Ford responded by screwing everyone with stupid runout prices and a cheaper all new model in 1998. The AU was a joke and the public has never looked at Ford the same way again. Shame on you for fooling me, shame on me for fooling me twice... |

I love the FG fords looks and would find it hard myself to buy a smaller cheaper car as I don't like small cars and would rather pay the running costs of a larger car. [[IMG][/IMG] [IMG]IMG][/IMG][/IMG] |
The AU was not a bad car the XR's, T series and Fairmonts were neat looking cars and everyone bags the AU on the S1 Forte
I love the FG fords looks and would find it hard myself to buy a smaller cheaper car as I don't like small cars and would rather pay the running costs of a larger car. QUOTE] Its funny that you should say that, was thinking exactly the same thing about the AU. On the FG, a friend of mine recently borrowed another mates G6ET. When we were later talking about it he said "it's like getting into a BMW or Merc its so good inside". He could not believe it was a Falcon. "He went on to say it went like the clappers and a fair rant about how GREAT it was. This guy knows his cars and yet he expected "another Falcon". Everyone I know who isn't into Fords says exactly the same thing and is blown away by the FG. That is marketing for you. and on this Forum its been discussed to death.

Why? - don't need a large 6cyl sedan. Mondeo despite FWD drivers very well and the room in the hatchback is perfect for my family's needs. I have only driven the XR5 Turbo version but was very impressed with the handling and features. When closer to upgrading my current ride I'm going to look at a diesel auto. |

Havent been on here for a while but just to add, IMO Fords 2 biggest mistakes in history were dropping the V8 from its line up, and releasing a car widely described as ugly, the AU. In a country where street cred counts for everything we now have a generation of people who grew up with only one choice of Aussie V8, the Holdens, and also a generation of people who will never get over the styling of the AU. Not to mention the joke that is Fords after sales service and how can a company regain consumer confidence in its product? Even with the best locally built large car in its showrooms. Ford will have the same fate as Mitsubishi, its not a matter of if, but when.

If FORD start making and selling retro style cars like the mustang and maybe making a retro xy or a xb/xc coupe maybe there sale would pickup.
I for one can't wait for the 2011 aussie Camero. |
