Oh thank god! I've been trying to mount my surround for ages and I couldn't figure out any other way than bending the plastic back until near snapping point :(
Cheers! |

I got one of these as soon as they came into work (Autobarn). Only cost me $18. Just waiting to rewire up the speakers before I put mine in. But definitely a great invention by aerpro.

Put mine in today, paid $30 from autobarn, very happy with it, its a great way to mount the headunit and looks factory. this replaced the factory pocket that look ok but did nothing in the way of mounting the headunit... looking at it in these photos i dont think the top is cliped in properly... didnt even notice lol...
Cheers Cam

Looks great! The only issue I see with these is that the whole radio can now be stolen without much effort at all, but only we'd know that (until I posted that comment, of course).

Im getting one of these fitted this Friday while my sub and amp get put in. Im hoping it supports the head unit well as opposed to the way it is now.

From the pictures it looks as though it doesn't really bring the top of the unit out too much, does the surround "curve" down to the faceplate or is it more of a drop

the headunit does sit back in the dash a fair bit, its designed so that you dont need the faceplate surround so the fascia acts as a headunit surround. i guess its bcause the factory headunit faces own so much

Is the volume control still able to be operated via the steering wheel with an after market cd player?

The steering wheel control unit is called a CAT10F. Made by stinger and available at most Autobarns. They will work with various models of cars and head units that have a remote control, as the CAT10F uses infrared to mimic the head units remote. They can also be wired into some aftermarket units, but isn't as effective. They aren't cheap and cost about $200.

Because not all aftermarket units have the option for wired steering wheel controls, and not all units recognise its connected. I suppose what I meant to say was it is a more universal installation option, so gives you more choice in aftermarket units.
