Ford australia are usless. All under the thumb of the US and its just a $$ figure to them.

Their loss. Wont be buying another new ford. (Bought 3 in last 5yrs or so)

So as i said. If they refused a warranty claim less than 12months out of warranty, i doubt they will cover one 10+years out of warranty.
Didn't you buy a 2nd hand car already out of warranty?
If you bought 3 "new" cars in the last 5 years wouldn't they have been in warranty

I cant see how this is Fords Fault. Any auto manufacturer would have the same stance.

I cant own more than 1 car??

No it was brand new when i bought it.
Ive since fixed and sold the pile of ****
I should have pushed to have it fixed as the Australian law states a product has an expected life period and is still covered to a degree

And no ot wasn't under warranty its only 3yr warranty.
New owner had nothing but trouble to and has since sold it to.
That car spent more time being fixed than being driven

Everything was wrong with it? and you purchased it new.. what year?
how many warranty Claims did you make?

What was this claim nocked back when it was 9 months out of warranty? that makes you never want to buy a Ford anymore.

lets be specific here because I cant see where you mentioned it or an FG before.

Im sorry.

Next time i shall pass on all my personal info to you to check before hand..

Who gives a flying f##k?!
Ford knew of the problems since new. And never fixed it. I sold it.

I gather you have never purchased a new car before?
Its not like buying a 2nd hand car. You pay a deposit and then they BUILD the car for you and then deliver it for pick up.
You dont get to go there and say. Oh no i dont want that one.....
You say whats wrong they mark it down and "fix" the issue/s...

I wasnt here trying to get people to "fix" my issue.
I merely explained that a vehicle just 9months out of warranty was knocked back.
So a car many years out will have buckleys chance of being fixed.

But i will note to inform you of any future car purchases or issues....

I don't care about you personal info & didn't ask for it.
But You make strong statements like above but cant back it up with facts, did the same when having a go at Jeeps on another thread.

Yet you provide no examples... so unless you can, as far as I'm concerned it didn't happen.

It's natural to blame Ford HQ for these things, but in my experience the service & support you get is only as good as the dealership providing it. There are some pretty poorly run service centres out there and it certainly reflects badly on the brand. They have the ability to lobby Ford on certain claims, but some just don't try. I had a turbocharger replaced out of warranty, it was the dealer who did the running around. In those sorts of cases Ford ideally want to see a full service history recorded through their dealer network. Although I think with a 15 year old example you're probably pushing the friendship.

There have also been more than a few folks who've made extraordinary claims about how Ford's warranty has wronged them, many times crucial information was missing which came to light later, invalidating their complaint. It's far too easy to get the pitchforks out on forums with half the story in your hand. It's nothing personal, but people will generally side with scepticism in the absence of detailed information when particularly negative claims are raised.

Ford/ FPV whatever. How hard is it someone who drills into some metal to take an extra minute & apply a swab of rust proofing product. I bet they would do it if it was their personal car... but everyone else gets a nice rusty surprise a few years down the track.

I have a VX comodore for a run around, when in Perth. It sits at the depot, and every week I get there I open the boot, and if it's rained the boots full of water.
Guess what, it has rusted through where the bolts are for the factory fitted spoiler, hence the water in the boot.
Maybe I could blame Holden all these years later for not putting touch up paint there.

My wife is 13 years out of warranty and is shagged I want a new one.

To expect a 13 year old car to get warranty for rust you have got to be kidding.

But at the same the poor prep is. Fix it and do it right

I wreckon mate, your best option in this case is to buy another bootlid which is a non spoiler one at the wreckers. It wouldnt cost too much to get one. What you do then is get it resprayed to match your colour and get the panel shop to drill the holes out for the spoiler and get them to hopefully do a much much better rust proofing job then when it left the factory back in the day. Alternatively you could find an xr in narooma blue and use that boot, but chances are rust has already started forming in the lid itself under the spoiler etc. I know my bf2 xr6s boot lid is starting to rust so I can't do **** to stop it, and I can't exactly change it for another as ive got a colour that was sprayed on my car from ford as a test pilot car I believe, nitro blue, I made a forum somewhere about it if you dont believe me haha. Your car being 1 of 1 in narooma blue, makes it special so do what you believe is the right thing to do, which in my opinion is get a superb condition non spoiler boot, and work your way up from there.

You sound like an angry Troll... FG falcons don't typically ever have electrical issues.. so unless your willing to back your story up we will all take your post with a grain of salt. I have had Ford warrant cars 12 months out of warranty providing they were serviced by Ford on time. It comes down to each case and how you handle it yourself.

As for the OP good luck, 14 year old car what do you expect? Just wait till its 30 years old and hope you still have a car. Did you buy it new? if not who knows whats happened to it prior to you owning it, could have had the boot replaced by a panel shop somewhere along the line who did a half assed job.

I have seen a couple of GT's with rust in the boot lid around the spoiler mountings lately.
Might be a common problem?

As others have posted, I would go for a used boot lid that's never had a spoiler before
preferably even if you can get one the correct colour so the underside does not require painting.

Every car I have owned with a spoiler has leaked. Ford or other.

This time I agree with Ford....they all do that.

Usually agree, but my mate had the heater core replaced in his Focus ST 4 or 5 months out of warranty, not a cheap job by any means. Most likely and isolated case but still.

As per my earlier post, I personally have experienced Ford coming to the party on a warranty claim on my BA XR8 when it was something like 6 to 12 months out of the warranty period.

I remember them (ie the CRC) asking if I regularly had my car serviced at a Ford dealer, which I did. Once they verified this they offered to pay half the costs for the fix. The problem I had was that the 6 stacker shat itself, which was a well-known issue in that model.

So it does happen.

FG Falcons are known to display weird electrical faults at times if the battery is on borderline, that I do know when I owned my FG XR ute, I just wonder if Paulie experienced this problem.

Cheers.
