The Blue Oval and the Red Lion , tribal warfare , good natured insults , respect begrudging or otherwise , even admiration . God Forbid some even bat for both sides owning a mix of each brand .GOT TO LOVE IT.
I recall reading some posts on a Holden Forum site around the time of Ford closing the doors and a whole thread was devoted to Ford comments from the Holden crew .Was just browsing out of pure curiosity . Overwhelmingly was the sensation of loss of a friendly rival and that rivalry made both companies lift their game with the performance offerings over the years . Pretty true I'd say. On our own AFF this has certainly been reciprocated since Holden pulled up stumps late last year . Kind of sad that time will see the end of the golden years of the Blue v Red battle as we knew and loved it . Might get a rebirth to a degree if the Camaro one day gets sold here in a meaningful way , maybe , kinda , sorta although if Holden falls to bits like some are predicting that might be increasingly unlikely . |

I saw the AU 6 cyl in your sig but I just thought you might also have another car when you posted about your "Performance Falcon". To be honest I doubt the SS Commodore drivers are taking any notice of your Falcon, it's possibly more a case of plenty of guys who own them are larrikins & like giving their cars a squirt. They have a bit of a reputation for doing that! Last edited by Fairlane 500; 15-04-2018 at 08:29 PM. |

Have you sat in the passenger seat in my car while I'm out & about around my way? I've observed this phenomenon for a long while now.. Anyway, its funny because they look straight at me when I'm at the head of the queue at this certain roundabout, its not like my car is anonymous either like others hey.. cheers, Maka

I have a bit of a laugh when people pull up next to my coupe at the lights they realise the shape but then do a double take when they see its only got two doors and the steering wheel is on the left hand side.

When Ford and Holden committed to performance sedans with the B series & VE in the 2000's, the rivalry was set to continue that kicked off in the 60's. That said, I don't imagine the cars that Maka's discussing are the expensive or sort after models which then says a bit about the drivers

I meant any performance or fast Commodore or Falcon from the past RC, i forgot that im a old codger & some of the younger generation forgot how & where it all started lol!
They are all fast to me, they were fast in their prime in the past hey. Our AU's for instance were classified as sports sedans then after our models, the newer models simply put, got more hp but also weight, so they started to be classified as Performance cars iirc. Fast is fast, in a straight line or around corners too (which im a fan of). cheers, Maka

I regularly stay in the Northern Suburbs of Adelaide. All you can hear is V6 Commodores manging away any time it rains.

In fact, unfortunately & tragically, a *v8 Commodore ute driver very recently lost their life late at night near me, rumour has it/allegedly he was hooning, if he did the alleged hooning at a designated racetrack, he'd still be alive & car not totalled. *I have it on good authority he was upset because of a domestic fight/bustup & was using the car to vent..A young family left to pick up the pieces.. Another topic for another thread i guess..So back on the topic of this thread now please. cheers, Maka

Funnily enough here in Geelong the Commodore drivers are well behaved especially the ones driving late performance models. I never got any attention from anyone when i used to drive my FGX XR8, its as if everyone was scared of it. It was a totally different story in my FG XR6T and FGX G6ET. Everyone tried racing me at the lights especially the Euro and Jap boys but believe it or not the worst were the young guys in clapped out BA XR6 turbo's. The crap they used to do was so stupid and dangerous.

This thread is funny, XR6T owners are the worst for this. When i'm driving my clubsport around every second XR6T owner tries to drag me, especially on the highway. Ive never bitten once because I like my licence and i know i'd lose, so i don't know why they bother.

A respectful & gentle reminder that this threads title is - Performance Commodore drivers posing off after spotting your performance Falcon?
Sorry guys, just trying to keep the thread on topic & i get its a fine line between what constitutes showing off, street racing or hooning etc. Some authorities would deem most or all the actions i listed above breaks the law, so theres the another fine line i guess lol!! cheers, Maka

I used to get it all the time in the Ute. Looked like a stock XR8 with some wheels and an exhaust. They soon knew it wasnt when the blower came on song... Always put a smile on my face.

I had one guy ask if it was a turbo model and i said no, turbo's came out in the next model and he said then why the double spoiler if its not that fast. I was like, dunno man, never did it before, never did it again and he was like, not surprised to be honest. Never had a word mentioned about the SR. Im sure there are threads with references on here to those spoilers and plenty of for and against comments, although they may well have been had long before you joined up. The rest of the story was true too, had this clown in a VT Calais come screaming up the far left lane of 3 doing a good 100 in 80 zone until he got to the front of the pack, crossed into the far right lane and when the light ahead changed i pulled up next to him. I put it into manual incase he decided to get keen but he took off as though there were cops behind him so i left it at that. I get the impression that unless the Holden bogan is driving something less than 10yr old and with at least SS badges and accompanying V8 they wont pick on a B series incase its a sleeper and theres a hairdryer under the bonnet. He probably figured a mint black Ford wagon with dark tint on 18's would have some work done and never even noticed the tell tale gas sticker on the front number plate pointing to 157kw of fire breathing Egas... |

It's not just the Holden owners, I get it from any car enthusiast and similarly, when they like to show their feathers I give a bit back too. Their feathers disappear pretty quick though

I usually find the opposite. Most will hoon up to me and then go quiet all of a sudden. Or if they pull up next to me and hear the turbo spool up with a little flutter they don't bother. Like another poster said before - it's often not worth it.

I was out driving my SSVR, pulled up next to me driving my F6, saw the 285 rears and massive exhaust and then turned left.
