I think this whole buy cheap and fix cheap is complete nonsense.
Sure a Commo or Falcon, but an F40 buy at 100K (as suggested as a wreck), looking at part prices let alone no collector would want it anyway after a patch up job on Million $ mark. It's dead. |

Weird.
I'd bet good money it'll get fixed, and it'll still cost less to get it back to 'good' than it would be simply writing it off. 20 years ago, fixing something like this would be utterly beyond anyone but the highest level repairers, and Ferrari specialists at that. Repairs would also come with 'prancing horse' tax which isn't cheap. But the same time, it's still and F40, there aren't that many of them running around and even a broken one is worth a shed full of cash. Now, you get carbon fibre and kevlar parts OEM on taxis. A lot more folks out there willing and able to repair or rebuild 'exotic' materials now so the repairs are not only much more accessible, they're cheaper, of arguably better quality and a lot easier to find someone who's capable of doing it. The dang thing was glued together in a shed when it was first built. Undo the glue, tack some replacement bits on it, good to go again. Don't forget, we're talking about a car that as part of it's servicing requires a US$10,000 fuel cell bladder replacement every 10 years. This is part of the ownership cost, and if you can afford to own and drive it, US$1,000 a year to stop it taking a pee on the floor is about as concerning as it is for most of us to give the car a wash. And while we're there, these things are a lot tougher than you'd think. If the main tub is damaged, it's likely mounting points that can be patch fixed and a new front end bolted on. Maybe when it's fixed it won't be worth what it was when it was a pristine example, but it'll still be worth a big heap of coin. I know of at least one guy who'd buy it at write off price, fix it up, and also has the means to carry it out. Just because they can. Wish it was me. Stu. |

This will not be a cheap buy and fix.A $2m+ car. Be very surprised if the wreck makes only $100k.Could well sell for $250k then throw another $2-300k in bits and a week or two,s work into it.If one can buy and fix for $1m,not a bad earner.Sure there are plenty of buyers either here or overseas.

If sold as is.. I reckon it would be worth closer to 6 to 7 Hundred thousand. Or even more. Ol Richard Rawlings paid $400 000 Usd or so for his Crashed F40.

Well we don’t really know how much of it is damaged without seeing proper photo,s.If it didn’t hit all that hard and just twisted up the front panel assy without doing any firewall or chassis/ susp damage the parts bill won’t be even that much.Must remember it takes the same amount of time to repair comparable damage on a Million dollar Ferrari as it does on a twenty five thousand dollar Corolla.

There will be a full suite of factory instructions for repair, as for any modern “production” car some in the EU. I’m definitely in the category of wishing I had the readies to put it through - would be a nice earner.
