1982 Ford Falcon ESP up for auction

just a couple of observations....not wanting to be critical as it is a significant car being the very last one, but i note that the engine pic shows the heater hoses with two heater valves.....er no i dont think so....i think this was done by the owner and is not original in my opinion....and also for those that have put engine size badges on the front guards under the Ghia badge, you will note that this car does not have engine badges....that is correct from the factory....the only way to tell what engines were in these cars was to lift the bonnet
as long as it wasn't washed too much along the way, it should be fairly rust free...hpoefully

I'm with the bloke who reckon starting it up monthly has done more harm than good to the way the bay looks. Has deteriorate the decals and rubbers etc. Also headlights look foggy instead of crystal clear, the underbody isn't as clean as I would have thought for the KM. But I guess, washing a car every month or couple of months for 39 years would cause it's own wear, vacuuming, brooming a garage where it's stored in a corner would mean the dust etc carries up underneath it. Also notice the Ghia badges gel has shrunk (heat / humidity perhaps) and the rear Ford badge is a little battered too.

Have seen EL and EB GT with similar KM looking in a little better condition. I don't doubt it's got 60KM on it, but if it was tucked up in a clean, dark and dry corner with no fuss for 39 years it would have probably fared a little better. Again, having said that, I am not trying to take anything away from it, or doubt it's authenticity.. It definitely is what it is - it is a good reference and case for how and what to do for preservation.

That Charger has it's paint code listed as its body number. As stated there is an awful lot of CL in that 72 (VH)
Also E28 was a single barrel 245 not a V8

8k a month sounded high so i crunched some numbs... my mafs says you added an extra zero... isnt it more like 800 a month?

39 (years) x 12 (months in a year) = 468 months of existence for that car.

at 800 a month, 800 x 468 = 374,400

still a pretty good return, who wouldve thought back then, and especially when they had bottomed out in price, probably late 90s or thereabouts.

To gain 8k a month well thats even beyond hemi cuda convertible territory.. its old rare prancing horse territory perhaps.

I reckon that force 7 would be a good pickup at 250 or so.
You can buy a stock ****box falcon/commodore/chrysler and make a replica of whatever model you fancy. And in the end brocks blue meanie, is just another fast hdt/hsv, a year later there was a better faster one.

But the force7 can never be imitated and was never "improved" . Nobody can say yes your 1974 force 7 was good, but my 1975 had a more powerful engine etc.

Its truly an extreme rarity, and a great -if sad- backstory. From every angle you look at it you know straight away this is something you have never seen before. . People that want one can only buy the real thing. That has to make it worth a lot in years to come.

and that's without the added costs of keeping a car that long, plus costs for the extra land for a shed or warehouse etc..

even at these absurd prices - its just not worth it.
