well 4.0l of inline 6 is a bit of an overkill, but until wieght goes down I cant see it happening.
BF2 will be a marked improvement I am sure.

The the BFII today and you will certainly notice the difference between the two series in the XT and fairmont models and ute's. Didn't see an XR so I'm assuming it will probably look the same.

I'm not sure if all you guy's have checked out the VE picture thread in the Pub? In that thread there is a link to an Carpoint.com.au article relating to the VE and how Ford will respond to the new Commodore.
This Thursday (15th June) there is supposed to be some news on how Ford will do this. BFII reveal anyone??? |

I didnt notice how heavy the DOHC 4V layout is. The 2.7L TD V6 is, even tho consisting of a CGI block, still heavier than the LS1/2. Even if our I6 and BOSS engines consist of a CGI block, i doubt it'll be comparable in weight with the LS engines, tho, it'll put less weight up front, so i guess better than nothin

Other rumours about the BFII I've heard are that there is going to be a new bonnet along with the current headlights that have an Audi A4 like dip on the lower edge. A slightly different front bumper is also mooted for the BFII.
I've only picked up this infomation from another forum - so I don't know how true these claims are. It sound feasible, but a little on the extensive side for an MKII update. |

The BA Mk II Update was just a new set of alloys and some interior changes was it not? Surely they will have to do more this time round, with VE coming onto the block. :
Is it just me, or is it a bit too soon to be updating the BF??? The BA was out for years before the update came around... :

I recall they tried fitting curtain airbags for the BF but couldnt fit them, so I doubt well see this.
I wonder what FPV will do. My guess would be the introduction of Dynamic Stability Control which they did not calibrate for the BF range. |

Territory Turbo is due for launch soon, so Carpoint could be referring to that. If anyone wants a brand new GTHO they will have to go back in time. If anything, the next hyper Falcon probably won't turn up until the E8 arrives.

BF II is to counter VE and a market that is running away from big RWD sedans.
- BF II looks like targeting aerodynamics (went backwards from AU with BA) cd should be back around .28, exterior changes and underbody changes likely -Wider avalibility of 6 speed, optional across more cars. -New E-gas engine avalible on all SWB sedan, wagons and utes. E-gas and 6 speed as a premium E-gas solution. -Cutting some weight from BF ~25-50kg (orion components?) Gorman pretty much copied my previous comments on lighter alloy components. Key targets will be engine and suspension. -Turbo Territory and Turbo Territory Ghia -Turbo Fairmont Ghia (please be true) -LWB cars to recived final update before disapearing this will be publicly acknowledged. -Wagons also to recive final update before disapearing ditto -Wider avalibility of DSC onto Fairmont and Futura and XR6 -Some BFII cars to recive monotube shocks (XR, Sports IRS, FPV) not from Delphi -Fuel economy average I would estimate to drop to 10.0 or 9.9 L per 100 for I6 with 6 speed. Gains in highway (aerodynamics) and city (weight and engine improvements). Highway near 7.0 L flat. |

Excuse my possible ignorance....
If the BFII update has things like a new bonnet, headlights, bumper etc, would this not be a more significant change than from BA to BF. Just curious as I cannot remember (apart from increase horspower and 6 speed autos and manuals) what in cosmetic terms BA to BF had. |

It is all fiction. Sorry I should have included a disclaimer at the top.
As I said previously, I have no inside sources. However you do not need a inside mole to find out whats happening. Simple observation can tell you that. Infact I tend to find inside mole information unreliable at best and sometimes downright misleading. Ala V10 GTHO.. Hell we have even seen the GTHO badges in a FPV workshop! BF II is expected to be a suprising facelift simply because it has to fight VE. Some of those statemens are pretty safe. -Ford has already announced turbo terri -Ford has already announced wider E-gas (and no doubt more of it too). Fleets are demanding it. -Ford has already announced improved economy and improved economy with lower NVH. -Ion is widing up, the 6 speed will replace it, it is logical to assume this will be a increasing common transmission in the lineup. -Wagon and LWB are dying. No one refutes that. 6 speed falcon economy is already @ 10.2. So Given improved aero (better highway), lower weight (improved city) and some minor engine improvements fuel economy should be at least 10.1 with 9.9 and 10.0 entirely possible. Shouldn't be a long wait. Ford will start drip feeding us by the end of this week or maybe next week. Which is why I wanted to get my hastey prediction in. |

Just on Ion, I would just like to say that somemanagement have bought part of the business and have started a company called Drivetrain Systems International. Can't say much more than that.
