I was looking at installing either neons or LEDs in mine as Courtesy lights similar to that found on the fairmonts.
My question is do the neons/LEDs require a constant 12volts, as the courtesy light fade after 20 sec? What sort fusing or relay is best to use while wiring it all up? PS love the blue REDED Cheers Adam

I have got a similar type of setup on mine.
Thinking of putting some in the back as well. Anyone found a suitable hiding place for them? |

My ones in the back sit up under the front seats where the straps for my seatcovers run. The neon tube sits very well but ive noticed it does move around a little, but thats nothing a zip tie wont fix. I'll take some shots of mine tonight and post them up after bball. My 4 neons are wired up from behind the cig lighter linking together including a switch so they can be turned on and off at any time. You can't see any of the wires or neans tubes at all with my setup. They were installed by -jjm- who did a great job. Cheers Paul |

i love neons.
ive got em everywhere including underneath the car. **** the rice crap. different is not rice. rice is putting stickers of performance parts on a stock factory crap heap. ok if you want a fade effect you will want to use leds. neons run a transformer style circuit meaning they prefer 12v if you drop the voltage they dont fade they kinda dull then turn off. not to mention under powering a transfer is not a real good idea. secondly. neons draw bugger all. so a 1amp 12v switch will power about 5-10 neons without a worry. yes u should use a fuse.. just in case...for 10 neons use a 1-2amp fuse. ohh i prob should mention im basing the 1amp on inside small neons. not the underneath huge neons. if you want the neons to stay on after the door has been open buy a cheapo turbo timer from jaycar or something. the door will be the ignition turn off wire sensor. and the output that goes to other side of ignition will go to neons. (btw i havent done this) i run a set of switches that control all the neons in my baby. i also have a "million colour led kit" underneath. they arent bad they come wid a remote as well which has its **** factor. as for pics. ive only got this one from a e-series meet |

my undercar leds were originally $179.95 plus $10 delivery
i think now the same kit on ebay is about $160 odd. the problem with the ea's n prob most of the e series is the wavey floor system ford created. therefore with long tubes it is impossible to push them up higher so that you cant see the tubes on a standard body. the only way around it is like what ive done. mount them as high as possible & then save for a body kit (im saving as we speak. hehe) one day when i got body kit. you will no longer see tubes & you will get a more haysy sorta glow instead of a solid beam. neons are an aquired taste. much like subs & huge dollar systems. some people like performance. others like crusin **** factor. im in the **** factor section. but also wanting to move into performance section. bradman |

it goes ok. i would love turbo on her.
my problem is i added so much weight cos of all my "gear" so ive lost like 50% of performance. nahh only one monster tacho. the other guages u can see are the standard S Pak guages with white faces instead of black. i run mine mainly in semi-manual mode instead of auto which gives me a tad more grunt. only catch is i think the gearbox is starting to die. cos she is slippin and not going into gear when in drive. well at least i think thats whats goin wrong. bradman |

and no they are real rims. my prob was insurrance at the time, they wouldnt let me change wheel size damn aami. cos i already had an exhaust. now that ive moved to just car they couldnt care. i wish i had waited 8months b4 buying rims. i would have gone much bigger. as for the tackyness. im saving for bodykit as we speak to stop that prob. but as most of us know money dont grow on trees. and finally, its all good. i didnt take offense personally. bradman |

why is it that they put man on the moon before they figured it would be a good idea to put wheels on big suitcases?

**off topic** australia supplies a majority of asia's rice because they don't have the room to farm!
I want to see more pics of neons especially UV ones!

anyway....its funny how it was just mentioned that we dont fill our cars up with rice etc etc...because just today i was saying the same thing to my mate.. "when your at the petrol station and i ricer pulls up next to you to get petrol, just say to himm yeh the rice station is on the next block!!" hey bradman...dont worry we all know what bloody insurance companys are like! im only allowed 1 mod too and thats the exhaust!luckily enough my car is an xr6 so the ride height is majorly 4wd spec! as for the money...about april this year i had a grand total of $10 in my bank, i only had my car to show for my hard earnings! i now have almost a grand saved to play with and iv got money saved for insurance/rego in a seperate account.i hate money!why cant we all live in harmony and just give each other stuff without trade!!!then we'd all have the sickest looking cars out!!lol! cheers

On the topic of neons, I was running a 12" in the front grill of my AU. I have a pic on my phone so when I find the cable I will post it up. Looked pretty damn nice, it was a deep blue colour and wasn't over the top. Lit up the ground under the front bar and the grill (which was an awesome effect). Then it got water on it and died.
Just received 2x full length water resistant for under the car (~ 1 metre each) so once it's all hooked up I will take some pics. Just a note my car is an AU Series 3 XR6 VCT ST. IMO the AU's look damn sexy with neons, inside or out I'm all for lighting! |
