*Nearly every Greek kid (and a few Italians) I grew up around (Melbourne) said close the light. It used to make me laugh. One kid I remember if we slept over, or he slept over my house would say 'dont close the light" because he was scared of the dark, he was around 14 too. Tough as nails, but terrified of boogeymen.

Mate you don't need a new car, you need an EA Falcon. They were designed for what you are describing. Not many things went wrong on them, they mostly just fell off. Pocket the extra cash and go mad!

EDIT: I'm dead serious, if you drive to work safely and just wanna flog the shoes off it now and then, an EA is the car for you!

Thats the way, recommend a car that stops woefully and handles even worse than it stops.

Gee whizz.

Plenty of "responsible" and "safe" drivers on this forum aren't there???

"Don't drive over the speed and limit and you will be safe" seems to be the general concesus amongst us - would I be right?

Does anyone actually know where, when, how, why, tyre wear, road conditions, weather conditions, vehicle condition, etc, etc this bloke was giving his XR6 a quick squirt to 150?

While his spelling and grammar leave a little to be desired he isn't coming across as a complete tool nor is he displaying a poor attitute.
Speed doesn't kill.
Driver attitude / decision making does.
You people are starting to sound like to believe the "speed kills" crap our government feeds us.

As for the cars.
Get another XR6.
Trust me, you'll hate the Commodore.
Test drive one to be sure though...

Maybe we have seen many fatalities and horrifying destruction from guys in the country giving their beast "a quick squirt" (yeah right). Open empty roads are wonderful until you make one little mistake and your roofwards into a 100 year old gumtree. Or swerving to avoid a rabbit and end up in a river. I'm 26 and grew up in a rural area and have seen atleast 15 wrecks that were fatalities of people under 20.

There are two sides of this thread and I can see it turning into war. I choose not to get involved.

As for the cars mate, I'd stay with the falcons. They are a much better all rounder. The interior is a lot nicer and the space inside the cabin is a lot more spacious. Take it from me, I am 6'4" and pretty big, when I get in a commodore it feels a lot smaller.

The falcons give a bit more pull (seeing as that is what gets you off) than the commies.

Just a bit of advise, its not a good idea to start a thread in a forum of car enthusiasts, telling them how much you flog the out of your car.

Anyway I hope you make the right choice.

4cyl cars aren't that bad, you can put your foot flat to the floor while nearly redlining between shifts and feel like you're going fast as but really, you're just reaching 100km

I had a 1981 Datsun Sunny with the 4 speed manual and I used to drive the tits off it. Racing every one on the road.... but I don't think anyone ever noticed I was racing. Flat stick was comparable with quarter throttle on an e-series GLi lol

Pure bred racing machine it was

well if its any help to u in deciding i got a october 2006 BF mark 2 XR6 with absolutely 0 problems.. its had 1 fault which was last week at 30 000kms when the battery was stuffed and the car went into limp mode. a new battery went in and its going fine again.

had a 2003 ba mont b4 that and had nothing but trouble. i hear people having alot of problems with bfs and the only difference i can find between theirs and mine is that thiers are driven straight out of the yard and mine was a special order and only sat at a dealer for a few days..

mine has the leather premium sound dual zone climate control gps 6 stacker cd player and a load of other fairmont ghia type extras
