I like it! Only improvement I'd make is to remove the plastic mesh of the Fairmont grille and replace it with metal laser cut mesh, a la Zhodak's grille. It would almost be a BA XR/AU XR cross then.

Cheers mate,
I did strip back and solder the XR loom/connectors to the existing wiring (from memory it's the same colour coding) but I'm sure that even though the connectors connect differently it is possible to remove one of the spades within the connector and reposition it (within the connector) so that it works. Hope that makes sense - basically the light terminals on one are parallel and on the other at right angles. There is a blank space within the connector which allows you to swap the loom wiring to suit. I'm taking the XR bar and lights off on the weekend. I want to have a play around at fitting aftermarket low and high beams to it. If you're in no hurry I can take some pics to illustrate what I mean. |

In my case I intend to swap the front bars and lights (Brumby/XR) around from time to time and as I don't have a great history of finding bits after I've put them in a "safe place" it's better for me to have both sets of connectors fitted to the harness ;) |

Love what you're doing, I personally wanted to this to mine but unfortunately don't have the know how you do!! If you ever decide to get rid of that wicked Brumby front bar of yours though, please please please let me know.

When I get rid of the AU I'll take it back to standard trim so everything I've toyed around with will be up for sale. Probably be a while yet (but..... even though it's heresy in here, my daughter and her hubby have just taken delivery of a new Clubsport. It's kinda nice so I may be turned to the dark side if I drive it enough...) |

To continue on from another thread where I mentioned that I'd fitted aftermarket headlights, in answer to a pm I'll post the pic here.
Headlights are now 60w/100w + 150w. It's easy enough to do so when I get back in a couple of weeks from our trip away I'll post up a how-to. Total cost for both sides = $150 Last edited by ronwest; 16-07-2009 at 01:34 PM. |

I took the car to an industrial estate to adjust them and the difference is chalk and cheese. I priced up originals from Ford and it came out at $460 per side, lol. Compared to $150 for both sides it's a no-brainer. |

At the end of it, it was really very simple. I guess that sometimes complicated is not necessarily better ;) |
