I still miss my 351 ZH Fairlane, and I also miss my VR Clubby. Probably because they were both V8's.

This is my only real regret, its a 1970 datto 1600 full rally spec inc.. gutted interior just 6 point bond cage fixed back seats harnesses and the nesisary guages. Motor was a ballanced/blueprinted l18 with a blower donated from a soarer running at 12lbs boost puting out 90rwkw on a pretty mild tune. Oh and this thing stuck to the road like s%#t to a blanket. She was no show car seeing the ol girl had a hard life of proffesional rally but i loved her. Sadly being the way she looked (cage etc..)i had to get another daily driver and at the time i couldnt afford two cars so i had to let her go.

Body kit is gone, wheels have been changed, exhaust changed and the bonnet is also changed (Had EBGT bonnet). Every time i see or think about this car makes me think . It coulda been mine out: Little fox

in 1973 i bought 2 chevy biscaines for $200 they were big 6 cylinder cars one had a stuffed motor the other right hand quarter panel was destroyed i was 17 years old and had big insperations for these vehicles but being young and dumb booze and birds and having a good time put payed to the cars being done up so now they are buried in the bottom of what used to be the cliffton hill tip here in melbourne. When i think about it now i could allmost tear my hair out. Oh to have to have those cars now they would be worth a small fortune anyhow sa la vi you learn by your mistakes.

The cars that I regret selling mainly due to what they are worth now & what I sold them for.
1 : 82 Corvette Collector Edtion 2 : 76 XB 351 4 door GT 3 : 72 E57 360cu Charger 4 : 70 HT 308 Monaro Sebring Orange I was the 2nd owner 5 : 79 Escort 2 litre Sundowner The biggest regrets in buying 1 : 72 HQ 202 ute (auto) Gutless rust bucket 2 : 73 Buick Regal sunk heaps of money & time into it hopeless as a daily driver & I still have it after 22 years 3 : 99 AU Ghia VCT Only regret is the way the car devalued so fast as I purchased as a demo but a great daily driver. Sold it this year There are other cars but I don't regret buying or selling. |

Had an old XC ute, with coupe interior, including rear seat, the cab had been extended, all registered and looked normal, crewman 30 years before holden did it. 302C. had the rust cancer all over it, and most was in primer, but I thought it was beautiful! anyways, parents and neighbours hated it, and I couldn't afford insurance or rego so it wasn't around for long.

Wish Id never bought the GXL. Was great mechanically (just a 302) and pretty good body until it rained and the passenger footwell filled up with water because of the leaking firewall. Bought it for $2500 sold it for $1650 six months later.
Whats worse about 2 weeks after buying it I spotted an XA fairmont with a 351 (Im an XA fan) in great condition at a swap meet for $2000 but I didnt have the money. Also sort of wish I hadnt bought my BA. Its a bloody nice car but alot of money to pay back.

Cars I regret buying:
EA FAIRMONT GHIA. Absolutely the biggest POS I've ever had. 6 months of aggrivation. 2 head gaskets, 1 transmission and diff!!! Geezus, what a sheetbox!! ED FAIRMONT GHIA. Paid top dollar as a low milage one owner. I had LPG fitted. Was great for 3 years then for the last year of ownership it just fell apart!! 2 head gaskets, 3 electric windows, air con stopped working, all sorts of things happened to it. Another POS. Has put me off E series completely!! XC FAIRMONT. 302 auto. Looked a million dollars, went like 10 cents. Traded a perfectly good XB GS on it. I got ripped off big time. I have never regretted selling any of my cars. The ones I miss the most were cars I'd lost in adverse circumstances. XA GT Sedan 351 4spd. The best car I have ever had, bar none!! Was stolen by low life scum. It's been 21 years and it still irritates me. Hope the thieves have died a miserable death!! XC GXL 302 AUTO. Just a magic car!! Was a one owner in great condition when I got it. Zero rust!! Put it on LPG and was a fantastic car to have. The day after I decided it was a keeper some goose in a Hi-Ace van slammed into the front and mangled it (I was lucky not to be badly hurt). Copped a head-on while waiting at a red light!! Coppers charged the guy, my insurance paid out but it was a sad end for a brilliant car. This was 8 years ago. Of what I have now, the BA XR6 has depreciated so much it has to be a keeper. This doesn't mean I hate the car, it just wasn't financially the smart thing to do. My Coupe is definately a keeper but I'll be very wary of Hi-Aces!!

I haven't regretted the VL.
Sure it's had it's problems and has rust in places, but it's still a tidy car for it's age and I love it. Had it for 3 and a half years and still happy, although the gearbox has seen better days. (Bloody previous owner flogging the crap out of it) |

Ohhhh Regrets.........
I sold my 59 Bugeye before i went OS for the best part of a year, i figured 1 car sitting idle in the garage was enough. She had a F/G tilf fwd bonnet, cooper S motor bored out to almost 1.4 litres, HUGE custom 14x5 inch steel wheels that i got made and she went pretty well for a car of her vintage. Oh, and its good to see people talking highly of their Festiva's... i never regretted buying it, even when my mates gave me shjt for choosing it over a vs crapadore.... 155k's and NOT 1 FAULT!!!, to say they are bullet proof is an understatment. I plan to drive mine into the ground and it seems that may take a while.... PS WHY NO FESTIVA SECTION????? it should be added on the the link that has the Ka in it??? |

REGRETT selling my Apollo Blue XY panel van with the blue crushed velvet interior that could transport 10 to the drivin'. Was my first car and loved it.
LOST the ZC fairlane, 302 imaculate and was never going to sell but was stolen.....cried for weeks. HATED the Landau!.....during the rebuild nearlly wrecked it and sold it for parts as got totally depressed with the money being thrown at it and the rust that we kept finding and because of the first dodgey repairer who took me for a ride. Would walk past it and give it a kick. After 3 years it all got way too hard but now.........NEVER SELL! REGRET NOT BUYING....The numerous GT coupes, XR, XT GT's, XW, XY GT's about 10 years ago when I was in the market but thought were a tad expensive and they should get cheaper so I will wait a bit! Enjoyed all the cars I have had.....as they have only been Fords....(1 AUDI which was fun to drive with the V6) and about 24 in all over the past 20 years! | [/url] |

regret selling...
1986 XF Ute. was an awesome car (also was my first car) cost me $7000 back in 1998 was lowered, SVO style paint (white over silver), full fairmont ghia interior. put a fairlane front on it after it was involved in a accident. poured way too much money into things like the hot motor - EFI long motor with redline manifold, holley 350, big-ish cam, then the suspension, adjustable shocks, big swaybars front and rear. if i could get my NC to handle even close to how that ute did i'd be laughing. sold it because i woke up and realised it was a rust bucket.......someone scored about $2800 worth of suspension as well as the rest of the parts for $2k.....grrr.... they woulda been laughing......saw me coming i think 1990 EA Wagon again, awesome car. had it alongside the NC - was meant to be a daily, but that didnt last too long. cost $2500 (bought it off a mate cheap) was stardust gold, all colour coded bumpers, door handles and moulds etc, lowered on EL XR8 wheels, big exhaust and EL multipoint injection fitted. it also had a S Pack interior. sold it because i couldnt afford 2 rego's near xmas, got $3000 for that car regret buying Morris 1800 nuff said bwahaha Last edited by LUXO_8; 13-11-2006 at 10:00 PM. |

I miss my 1979 XD, 351, top loader and nine inch. It was awsome to drive but lost my job and i couldn't afford to keep it. Almost bought it back 2 years later but it had been severely neglected by the new owner, too much for me to fix.

Sorry they are Holdens, but I love them all the same.
First I wish I'd kept my 1974 L34 Torana. My 255kw, avgas burning baby. Very fast. Fitted with a worked donk, ford 9 inch and toploader (let's face it the Holden parts were crap). Wish I'd kept it, as it's worth a pretty penny today. Then my fav car. Best point to point Q car I have ever driven. It was Phil Brocks company car and also a prototype Gp 3. Fitted with the ultra rare HO engine at 226kw's from the HDT stable.

While I love my ute, lately I have been missing my old AUI XR8 and thinking at times that I should have kept it.
I don't really regret buying any of my other previous cars, I just don't miss them.
