i'm sure the xr8 will be a fine car and modern looking compared to fg, but like everything it will depreciate and still be an xr8. |

While the new XR8 will just about be the best Falcon ever made, I still think the GT badge has a lot more pull than extra tech and performance has. Maybe not as much of a difference initially, but in 10 - 15+ years the gap will be bigger
An FG XR6 is a pretty good car, low 14's and plenty of gadgets and the rest, but I don't see any EL, EB, XY GT owners trading in for one. Even though *on paper* the XR6 is a better car.

Where is that going to leave the Clubspurt? They won't put the LSA in it...

No. But they'll put the 340 in the SS Redline the same day they put the LSA in the Clubby and the engine out of a F18 Hornet into the GTS.
I'd believe them going to 317 in the SS Redline, doing away with the normal Clubby and just having the 340 Clubsport R8 though. I think the Redline was cannibalising the normal Clubby anyway. |

Just got a call from a dealer, Ford have issued him the specs of the car, in line with the website. No order codes or pricing, but it's good to see that the same info is being corroborated through multiple channels.

Even if the new XR8 does come with the 351 GTF tune, my bet is Ford will still call it 335........keeping the official power output of the last of the GTs exclusive and a bit special will still have importance to Ford Au. Cheers Mick |

If anyone is seriously considering an XR8, I'd suggest putting down a deposit. Stock will be hard to get

I've been told that without the order codes, an order can't be placed. That said, the dealers will surely place the orders as soon as this info is released, so if you aren't leaving a deposit, making contact with them as soon as you can is probably advised.

Better to have GT talk than SS/Redline/Clubdork/340 talk

The entire range will be limited, Ford want to pull out of local manufacturing big time, it's killing them, I really hope the FGX runs the full span of it's designated production run, fingers crossed, but it's unlikely.

Spotted The guys in bendigo again today:
Clearly parked in a busy carpark, I watched for 15 minutes and no one noticed them there. Not even the family that pulled up in the fg g6e right beside them. Are people oblivious, or just don't care?

It's not even just Falcons, but cars in general. 10 years ago I had a new BA and often had comments at lights etc. That model was big news. FG-onwards it's not as appealing and even the VF Commodore isn't too exciting amongst many. These days you really have to stand out and have something exotic to turn a head or something old school. Sad but true.
