It is not X vs Y vs Z. The point I made was that nobody has done this swap in the aftermarket as far as I know, yet it has many merits. This thread is about "the next great fad" so I saw the opportunity to bring up fitting current-gen engines into a classic shape.

Personally I'd love to see someone put a Typhoon engine or a Boss290 into an AU. Cant see it becoming a fad but it would be great to see.
Would it be better than an AU SOHC with a turbo or a stroked Windsor? Who cares, it would be fun to see done. Financially it makes no sense at all but when has that ever been a factor with making mod decisions? :

Main reason for this is anyone that steps out of the norm gets shot down in flames.

my next gen fad is going to be my au.. wait for it.. with out shockies. so it just sits on springs. so when i drive it it goes crazy up and down like hydraulics

My vote for the next fad is...
Sniper 2-bar MAP sensor tunes on force-fed Falcons...

closely followed by...

Relocated sound system head units (something like marine CD/tuners with wired remote controls) allowing the head unit space in the console to be used for gauges eg boost, AFR, tranny oil temp etc.

Of course if anyone is developing a double-DIN real-time monitoring & diagnostics screen (like the aftermarket ECU "dashboards") that'd be a nice alternative to gauges...

The New Capa Tuner does that but it sits like a GPS off the window

That'd be the Livewire? I tried to get a Flash 2 (IIRC they called it xCalibrator 2 originally) but was told it wouldn't do data logging on an AU. Does the Livewire work on AU's or only on BA/BF?

Id also say forced induction well more turbo's have impacted heavily on the AU/I6 falcons in general, definatly become a hot topic for quite awhile and probly still is. One thing that was once pretty uncommon has now exploded, i couldnt imagine how many e-series and au running around with turbo's these days..
