They empty their tanks pretty quickly (the tanker is almost always there when I drive/fill in the arvo) so being on a major route so I would expect they should rise soon enough. The logic is costs are slow to drop is that they have already bought the fuel which makes sense but they will for sure pump it up which won't make sense but profit. House always wins no matter what. The bigger and quicker they empty their tanks should in theory mean it more accurately reflects the market price but in practice it doesn't work that way |

It would also be out of the way for most of Canberra. Not worth it for me personally. Hume is on the way home. |

Costco is out of my way by 7km on the way home. Membership is $60 a year, if you filled up at BP instead of Costco today, it would have cost you around $35 extra to fill up.
I do around 30,000km a year and when you start adding up the savings are fairly significant. The longest I’ve waited at Majura is 10 minutes. I’m a massive tight *** so the saving a of around $1200 plus a year for me is a no brainer. I hated when I had to fill up my old XR6T with BP Ultimate as it was tuned to it. Used to on average be 40-50cents dearer at Fyshwick than Costco.

I been taking photos of my local servo price board every time I go past the bastards twice a day out the window of the car from the passenger seat and got me trusty tin foil hat to protect me from the lizard people. Then they didn't put the price up, they know I'm watching, my tin foil hat must have a leak or Tracey called them and put in a word Last edited by Franco Cozzo; 30-09-2022 at 12:57 AM. |

Well I thought I would have seen fuel prices bounce 20c/L.
Local servo has dropped by 5c.

In spite of that, people here are right, fuel prices are inflated compared to what they should be and that especially true for diesel, it’s criminal the prices being charged. |

91 has been $1.49.9 here in Adelaide for atleast a month, during the week it jumped to $1.89.9 so they might not put the 22c excise back on when the next batch comes through but they've certainlt put 40c on in the interim.

Pretty clear that diesel buyers have been getting over charged with the +$2/litre prices and now the oil companies have absorbed the 22cpl to avoid price shock on already inflated prices. $1.89 vs $2.10 for diesel, any benefit of diesel ownership seems to be getting squashed by higher prices, hybrid vehicles look like a better proposition for retail buyers….. I don't mind paying the full excise, so long as they fix the freaken roads!
Heading north from Melb to Yea, along the Melba Hwy (100kmh), its a death trap. Managed to dodge every pot hole this morning, but saw a couple of cars pull over with emergency lights after the bad roads. The cost to fix or replace bent rims and shocks will make the excise feel like chicken feed. It's put me off heading up north that's for sure. Petrol prices seem to be steady hanging around $1.8x - $1.9x along the way.

and if enough city folk start to do that, it puts pressure on oil companies to change but, if they don’t, then more will join the queue…. |

But because oil companies know that not everyone can have an EV,they will probably take the view that they have to make the same profit,so overcharge the I.C.E people the extra ,so as to retain their bottom line

If I hadnt spent money getting it setup for camping I'd probably sell it and even then its getting harder to justify it sitting in the driveway all week for the occasional use it is getting. |

Over $2/litre for diesel is already causing massive prices increases throughout our economy, so at some point change will come in the transport industry and as good and efficient as diesel is, the cost of fuel will make it prohibitive. Last edited by jpd80; 02-10-2022 at 10:04 AM. |

The handbrake is on the way home from Melbourne, she stopped at Holbrook for a break, went to fuel up and it's 40 cents cheaper down the road at Tarcutta. That's a $24 saving.

OPEC members agreeing to cut oil production by 2 million barrels a day, set to increase US gasoline prices
by an estimated 20%, that could mean another 40 cpl on our prices…..oh boy. |

Businesses work on margin, increasing your sell price by 20% can double your margin. Reducing production by 20%, demand and supply pressures can increase the sell price by 20% means that you generate the same revenue, but for longer. Your variable costs go down so you make more $'s and a much higher margin on sales.

The flip side is that it could super accelerate the renewable energy sector. But a 2% cut is not going to bring the world to its knees. Probably just means western economies will find it hard to compete with emerging economies who continue to take discounted oil from Russia.

Keeping prices high is only going to accelerate the move away from oil though, so they are kind of adding to their own demise. Although the world will never stop needing oil for plastics, paints and all sorts of stuff. Even if transport demand drops, it's still widely needing for other things. |
