It has to be the EL... it was the last of the line - so they ironed all those early bugs out.
And it's a bloody good ride when it comes to the gravel roads. (Can't tell I'm from the country)

EB Foot down Acceleration, and you can't go past the amount of noise that they make at 5500rpm

It's probably taken 10 minutes to read through the posts after voting!
As someone who has never owned any of them... Went for the EF, a nice all-round update of the basic body style. The EL proves how hard it is to update a 'grill-less' nose, as did the Camira - it leaves designers with little option! Also like the tail of the equivlent LWB cars, they keep the theme with nice variation. Runner up would be the EBII, by which time the styling was neatened up at both ends, with the mechanicals and security also improved. It's amazing (to me at least) how moving the badge from the bonnet to the centre of the grille smartened up the nose over the EA. Ditching the grey bumpers also helped! ED was not such a siginicant step over EBII. |

ED was basically the same as EBII but obviously more bugs were ironed out. Then came the Sprint and quad head lights on XRs. Cosmetically the only difference was the grille. T3h ED can n3va4 l0s3!!!!111111
Same with EF vs EL. EL there was the GT, NL FBT, better looking XR kit and front, more power in the updated XR8, hybrid AU engine in the later builds, more refined... Where's the advantage of an EF? Coil packs?? :P :P

I can see thier point that it was cutting edge. (the EF) It won alot of awards etc. But acctually driving a ef and a el, well thats were i cant agree that the ef was a better car. The EL is worlds apart. And so this should be, the el had a chance to improve on all the things that were wrong with the ef.

I think a lot of the bias comes from looks.
not all of us have driven every E-Series model, i've only driven an EA, ED and an EF. and while all of them were modified, you can feel the difference with each car, but the ED and the EF feel very similar. infact John_xr6's ED ghia feels a lot tighter then my car, but a lot of that can be put down to various mods.

i think that each model has is positives and negatives (except ea's are mainly negative but they were a decent car at the time) but each to their own. they are all good cars especially when modified.

EL for sure, in looks, performance, safety and racing history.
Evan up to this year, the EL is the only Falcon to have won both Bathurst and the championship since the EB |

EB for me V8 motor was back all the models were heavily upgraded it was huge step in the right direction for Ford Australia.
EA I think was good towards the end but at the start struggles espeically till they upgraded the transmission to the 4 speed auto, Ed was a cosmetic job of the EB no real changes diffrent grille was about all and painted door handles on the Futura,Fairmont and Fairmont Ghia. I really like the EF and it would be my second favourite E series model, great design great car, Im also a huge fan of the EL XR series (owning one would suggest that I guess) look better and meaner than the EF XR series. But no matter what the E series Falcons acheived the AU undid it all : |
