Default chrome grille

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Ford-Falcon-A...QQcmdZViewItem

was just browsing through ebay and came across this, i think it's a decent price and would look nice on my ute. the only thing is the seller says they will fit all the series 2 and 3 falcons except utes. i was under the impression the utes were different from the cabin back... can anyone confirm or deny whether it would fit an AUII XL ute and if not why? cheers.

the low bonnet has a curved bit at the front with a ford badge the high bonnet is straight at the front with a bolt on strip normally body colour but you can also get these bolt on strips in chrome

Yeah me too. Utes that have high series bonnets have had them changed to that from low series

Exactly. ALL utes and XRs got low series bonnets. Any ute with a High series bonnet and grille has had it put on by the owner.

That thing would certainly stand out! I reckon you could pull it off on some cars though.

yeah i was thinking with my car being black and all it would stand out like a sore thumb, but at the same time the chrome/black combo usually looks good because the chrome stand out so much. better than my grey grille anyways. maybe i should just get that one chromed... :

See if there are Low-series C2R grilles still available ... that might be your best bet for the ute.

Definitely worth a try I reckon - that and some BA Fairlane chrome mirror scalps.

yeah i think if i go the chrome grille the mirror scalps might be a touch too much IMO. maybe not i shall see how it goes. tax money coming in next week so a big mod (expensive for me anyhow) should be awesome!
anybody know roughly what the cost of chrome dipping is? i wouldn't do a dodgy and get chrome spray paint... it wouldn't look any different than the gray it already is:P

I reckon it'd be cheaper to grab that one off ebay.

yeah i would rather do that, but it wouldn't be cheaper to get an S2 bonnet to make it fit. unless there was an easy way of modifying the existing bonnet...

has anyone tried the billet grill option? i think that would probably work quite well on the low series bonnets.....a little more pricey perhaps, but would turn heads IMO. would be a better look then the whale teeth thats for sure

What colour is your car, and where is keysborough? I Have a black S2 bonnet you can have for whatever you pay for the chrome grille (I'll match price), but I'm in Canberra - so if you're close, then it would be a simple matter at meeting me at home, and less than an hour later, you drive away with a S2 bonnet (I had to fit the S1 bonnet to the wagon to suit the XR front).

i appreciate the offer mate but keysborough is about forty minutes from melbourne so I'm quite a distance from you. that would have been an awesome pick up... damn.
