Yeah something like that would be awesome...somewhere around november i think? You didnt seem to have a huge turnout though.. (i'm sure that didnt put a dampener on the day though). Do you think there would there be more of a turnout if the weather was better..?

Well it was going to be big until most of the cranny crazies pulled out
All of these would have turned up but: Whoosha - had to work Kev - no car Daniel (AU2PWR) - broke down while looking for petrol on the cruise mark/tracy (pinkbits) - miss reading plans Gianz - realised a tyre was stuffed on the morning of the cruise So, probably if it was run in better weather as well (was cold and overcast that day) more people would turn up. Maybe a longer lead up time as well. So a reschedule for the 3rd Nov? Could even be longer, down to Gembrook and back across Mt. Dandenong? |

Well as it states.. Who would be interested...? Is the old cruise location ok? (see thread link in earlier post) Or would another route be ok aswell? Beach location or country location etc...Somewhere good for photos...
Would be nice to get as many cars as possible...

I organised a cruise for another club a while back, but it was sort of the reverse of that one, started at FTG, over Mt Dandy then out to Sugarloaf for a few snags on the barby and some photos, then out to kinglake and down the back into Eltham.

I know the kms will add up a bit to get from King Lake, but I drove down to Lorne yesterday along the Great Ocean Road. Its has been a while since I have driven on it, and I forgot how good it actually is!!
Seeming as though it is one of the best peices of road in the world at our doorstep, why not use it? And there are beaches along the way.

If you want to go GOR the best way to do it is inland to Apollo bay then back along the GOR - important people don't drive too silly though, seen a few cars get written off up there on cruises.

Add to that you're best off starting from pier 35 about 10am.
Should get down there by 1, grab some lunch and make the trip back, stopping wherever you want. I vote cancel it if it's a wet day though - these bloody windsors like tailing out in the wet. |

Was down the GOR a few days ago with the family and gear packed into the Futura wagon. Still a nice drive, but the Mrs was getting a little queasy. I was going really slow too.
The same road in the SR sedan might be nice. I'll see how I'm placed as we get closer to a proposed date. GK

Slightly off topic, but have we started to put any thought into another Christmas cruise? I went on last years, and it was quite enjoyable.

If your thinking GOR for a xmas cruise, you may as well walk along the GOR. The Great Ocean Road becomes the Great Ocean Carpark from xmas to new years...
