Just had my eb xr8 manual on the dyno at the albany show and shine for the first time, i purchased my car not knowing what mods were done to it, but it looks like it still had stock heads and intake and the guy i bought it off said the guy he got it from had a cam, so there i was waiting for 165 170.....and it comes out with 188, then 190 hp and that was with 255 17's on, and i dont know if this is a big figure for torque but i got 589ftlb.............so i dont know whats in the engine but im stoked, but then again extractors, cam and intake would put out that figure would it?

I just used the mr2 unit convertor,
589ft/lb = 797.67 Nm I thought you had to get an engine dyno to get accurate Torque readings?

Torque is multiplied/divided by the gear ratio, diff ratio, and wheel rolling diameter. You need to take all those into account to work out what it would be at the engine.

With that rwhp figure at a rough guess it would be making about 180kw at the flywheel and about 400Nm or roughly EL or AU XR8 type power.
Not too bad. Would be fun to drive I bet!

yeh a el2 xr8 got 185 atw same say so yeh 185kw to 190kw at the engine considering the wheels it was spinning......... no idea what torque in newton metres at the engine.. but a 338 rwhp vp 5ltre on nos got less torque on the same day.....?

Yours is quite healthy,I put my Sprint a dyno and it pulled 228.2 hp (170kw) at the wheels! Well i think it it's great!(cam, extractors, full twin exhaust,hi-flow cats, shaker, pod filter) but i want MORE!!!!

Like EF Futura said, the torque figure is actually tractive effort and is a product of the gearing. The VP was probably run in a different gear or had different gearing. Or something went awry somewhere anyway. It would have about 400Hp (298Kw) flywheel judging by that rwhp reading, so I would imagine it would have something like 550Nm flywheel torque. Or similar to Boss 290 or 6 litre HSV power.
With 141.7Kw @ the wheels meaning roughly 180 - 190kw flywheel would mean that the flywheel torque would be around 400 - 420Nm judging by other windsors making that power. I believe the 185Kw windsor makes 412Nm, the 200Kw is 420Nm and the 220Kw makes 435Nm torque, factory specs. Sorry but there is no way it's making anywhere near 589lbft (798Nm) at the flywheel let alone the wheels. Thats the realm of hipo forced induction cars like AMGs or big capacity engines like the Chevy 7 litre V8 or Viper 8 litre V10. The Boss 290Kw engine only makes 520Nm (around 383lbft) flywheel. But like I said earlier, in the light weight EB body 180Kw would be great, especially as a manual. I imagine it's a fun car to drive. I've got about 235Kw and 500Nm but with an auto and the extra weight of the BA it probably wouldn't feel as quick as your car.

Yeah the torque figure is definately way out, i believe you have to set up the dyno to your car (i.e diff gears, tyre diameter) and run in a 1:1 gear ratio (manual T5, 4th gear). Mine with all the mods below made 330ft/lbs of torque at the wheels.
As stated above it would be quite a nice car to drive being in the lightweight EB body. My ute before all the major mods put out 211rwhp, that was std 185kw motor (i.e E7 heads and explorer intake), pacemakers, twin 2 1/4" dumped at the diff, K&N panel filter and BPT 3pc underdrives. Was pretty happy with that and was still quite fun to drive, but its a hell of alot more fun now :
