Sweet, The Torana is a nice car, 280kw of V8 Turbo power in a mid-sized platform. This will appeal to many car enthusiasts and the forced induction crowd, look out XR6T.

Bring back the Cortina ?

If its built in the US it can't be a Torana can it. I guess Holden will gladly slap a badge on it and call it their own though. Also no confirmation of RHD. Holden are now just about at their capacity, they have no room to build anything else.

I know someone who would be very happy to see a Torana name came back as he holds the number plates in Victoria TORANA.
Be worth a few more bucks..

They got rid of the third shift during the VE, so if the markets there and they can justify the cost it can be built here. Also the VE isn't selling as well as they want (if i rememeber correctly 7000+ a month is what they budgeted for) so they can cut production there.

Oh god yes, please. There is a distinct lack of powerful smaller RWD cars if you don't want to buy a second hand Japanese car that has been trashed to an inch of its death. I'll be first in line.

I'm surprised the media have been this slow about the project...Hanenberger was still in charge when this thing got the green light.

And a hatchback.

Now this is what they should have saved the Brock memorial type stuff for, if they ran a V8.

V6, they want to keep the V8 exclusively for larger cars like the Commode

I'd say this was done before the focus came out. I see more of the older shaped Vectra in it.

They won't bring back the Cortina. They have the Mondeo.

They have already said they would never go back to a third shift recently. It was causing quality and break down problems because it denies them the chance to do preventative maintenence while the lines stopped. They have also said that they will be reaching maximum capacity within the next few months, so they don't have any more capacity to do it anyway. Its not just about running 3 shifts, all the other areas have to be able to keep up to, sub assembly areas, the engine plant, suppliers etc.

According to the GM union its only going to be US built anyway.

Ahh, that explains my VT Berlina then.

I like the idea of a mid-size sedan with a V8, mind you I'm biased as I had an A9X-rep hatchback for a few years and still have fond memories of it.

The car in the pics certainly predates the current Focus, it was a show car some years ago and the headlights are indeed based on the Vectra.

If its a s1 VT then it wont. The third shift was brought in about teh VTII/VX.

BOSSXR8 thanks for that, it does make sense not to have a third shift and I doubt they would be build a new line.
