Filler plug on the drivers side rear of the box, so you need to physically get under the car to fill/check it . It is full once fluid starts to dribble out.

Ensure the car is on level ground though!

they got rid of the dipstick because too mant trannys were failing from over filling so you'll have to get dirty

That and a lot of people were topping it up with good ol' ATF instead of TQ95/95LE fluid as well.

A tranny workshop can retrofit a dipstick for those who know what they are doing...

yes but if the tranny is still in the car it has to come out AFAIK so it is a big (costly) job a few hundred easily. if you are getting the tranny rebuilt it is only about $40 to get it fitted though

It was one of the things that Bob Hunt threw into the quote when I was asking about a stallie a couple of years ago. IIRC it would have been about $800 all up to fit a 2700 stallie, tighten the belts & increase the line pressures to handle the higher torque loads, and fit the dipstick. Decided against the stallie @ the time due to lack of funds & never asked about the dipstick as a stand-alone.

Will definitely be putting one in when I have to rebuild it though.

they take the tranny out of course when fitting the stallie so it's easy to fit the dipstick at the same time

they are "sealed " so the trannys cook from lack of servicing just after the warranty expires
