Jim and Brendan make the cams to optimise air fuel ratios of a typical ecu up top. Tuning may add a few killowatts depending on how bad the air fuel ratios were to start with. I would guess that top end ratios were 12.6 :1. before and probably left as is. 155 killowatts is good top end power. The bigger cams like the dev 5 pickup low down and midrange power if the tuner is competent. The lack of power has to be tuned in to optimise the ratios again. This is why it is alot better in those areas. You can retard the cam a few degrees and should see some more power but lose low to midrange response.

Would it be worth retarding my cam to give me a bit more up top, also is this possible?

Depends on where it is now and how good your headwork is. The gain up top may make the car slower by reducing low to mid range power.. The only way to test it is on a dyno but and then the track.

If the cam is already retarded to max then it is not possible to safely go more.I would recommend you to have a chat to Brendan as they made the product. Also you can have a read of JonBays buildup. He has done quite a bit of work and logged the results.

I'll probly just wait for billets and get something like a surecam, just cause my springs can handle it.

But thanks for the input.

I just saw your 1/4 mile times in the sticky in this forum. You have run 14.4 @ 100mph.Your car is good for a flat 14 maybe 13.9.

If I were you I would refine what I had. I think you should be focusing on getting the power to the ground better. You have the power. I would love to run a 100 mph pass. 100 mile pass is true 180 rwkw territory.

i had a jmm streetfighter cam in my original engine, with lukey headers and unichip and a few other bits and pieces it made 159rwk and ran 14.59 @94.9with 3.45 diff gears.

i fitted a ported head that flowed 18hp better @ 500 thou lift and lost a couple of kw's running the same cam/zorst and chip.but i picked up about 20/40 nm in torque..can't remember.

but... where as the original head/ cam peaked @ 5400rpm.the ported head /(same cam )peaked @4900rpm with only 2rwk less.knowing what i know now i should have tried retarding the cam a bit.

i reckon you should try retarding the cam 2 to 5 degree's

is the dev 5 cam dialed into jmm specs???

yeah what he said to dial it in to.

And about getting the power to the ground, i got a manual with a extreme brass button and didnt get as much as a chirp from 1st-2nd all i got was just a biiiiig jerk. i also think my low/comfort springs/shocks had to do with traction. launch was 4200rpm them try to ride the brassie and just crack!!! gears at redline.

I'll see how i go with traction tomorow im on the same tyers just fried them a bit

The only issues I had with the Dev5 were that it needed a chip/flash tune to give it a bit more response + without the necessary headwork I felt that it was held back. I would have loved to have had the head to match as I reckon it would have made a big difference.

For the record my best with the unichip tuned for my dev5 was 151rwkw (no headwork).

Can't find my dyno sheet but peak torque was al like 3500-3700 and power if i remember correctly was about 4800ish.

As fas as my head goes its just ported slightly, no work in the chamber or around the valve stem area.

if its peaking @ 4800 i'd try retarding it forsure.
i'd recomend to ring jmm and see how far you can go with the cam timing 1st before having a fiddle though.
