Default S1...its green and ugly. Need a makeover. Help!

An old s1. 180K km and an auto but...FREE!! Its got the fin grill and its all standard right down to the blood stain on the rear seat (Qld cop car). With a budget in mind. How can I make it look better? S3 grille? Whats this about low and high bonnets? S3 XR wheels will be choice and what about a 5 spd conversion? Easy? What else?

Thanks for your help.

Great price mate!! Grill, tints, wheels, lowered and a set of seat covers will have her just right.

if you don't wanna change bonnets.. i reckon the futura grills look good...

super lows... series 2/3 XR8 rims... S 2/3 tail lights.. and an interior swap.. maybe to black...

no wait.. dont do that.. coz that would look like my car.. cept the black interior... anyone giving away a black interior? :P

Why is everyone so obsessed with losing the grille..... I reckon they look just fine as they are!

In other news, lower it, a nice set of wheels and voila!

I've got a used, but in very good condition, series 1 futura grill or a brand new C2R grill which when painted and fitted looks like this in a series 1.
PM if either interest you.

This is the grill you need. That along with some nice rims, S2/3 tail lights, XR interior,S2/3 brake upgrade and a manual conversion and all will be sweet.

I reckon colour code grille (Waterfall is grouse when colour coded- not a fan of c2r here), colour code side mouldings and mirrors, debadge, clear indicators lowered suspension, mags, tinted windows and some nice 17 " XR Mags and all will be awesome

You cant believe the difference some colour coding and a lowering will do to a Forte- Stuff like kits and that can come later.

Now Im getting some ideas. So the s2 bonnett is different? Didnt realise.... Yes the whale mouth has to go and I like the idea of the forte grill. Any where I can see the different types of grills and bonnets. The T series stuff looks very good but there is nothing worse than an impostor.
Approx how much is the 5 speed conversion?
Thanks all.

Try and get yourself a Hawk grille, personally I think it is the best option for a series one replacement, the C2R just doesn't cut it

Yeah, S2 bonnet is different. Higher. Just stick with the S1 bonnet but use the ute 'egg crate' or futura 'single chrome stripe' grille. I've never seen a non-factory grille on an AU that looks anything but .
Five Speed? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Why do people insist on going back to the olden days crap! Why don't you just rip out the power steering while you're at it? Its an AU my man, not some dirty old VL or something. Have some pride! The auto is friggin silky smooth anyway!

I agree, the T5's are rubish anyway. just beef up the auto.
But I still say the Hawk gilles look good, here's a pic of one.

a manual is just a broken automatic anyway

Yeah T5s are 'rubbish'...silky and modern? The 4 speeds are still clunky and whine almost as loudly as all you guys...

Go a S1 futura grille...with the chrome bar removed! Looks tops.

If you are after a different grille ... have a look at XLS ute grille as well ... they are common and fairly cheap as well ... and much better than the waterfall grille (although I have seen colour coded ones that look after decent).

Oh .... PICSORBAN :hihi:

If you can stretch it ... see if you can get BF GT Copy wheels as well ... they are a nice wheel ... although i am fond of S2/S3 XR wheels (as I have them on the ute).

Colour code the mirror scalps ... the side mouldings ... clear side indicators ... hell ... I think everything I mentioned literally has been previously mentioned anyway.

Interior ... well ... speak to Darren at Ferntree Gully Autoslavage ... he has lot of goodies for the AU interior ... also there's the little chrome bits from Ford spare parts as well that can be had at reasonable prices.

I think you'd have the wrong bonnet for that grille.
