so yeah was driving my car pulled up out side my house, few hours later went to go some where and car wouldn't start. thought it was a flat battery but everything worked lights n radio n windows... so i called racq and he went under the car and started to hit the starter motor and told me to keep trying to turn the car on lol
but nothing so i need a new starter motor. just wondering if i could fix it? other wise ford will have to charge me for replace it after i get the car towed their. does any 1 have a spare for me ill buy it, are they hard to change over, any 1 care to do it for me, theres royalties in it for u hehehe preferably in brisbane area. just an idea, i dont really want to be carless for too long.

any mechanic or auto electrical place will replace it for you. ford will charge and arm and a leg. and new one will be around $200 to $250 and will take around 1h to install

I went to the wreckers and got a BA one. pain to get to but took about two hours to do. cost of motor was $50.00. The top bolt was the tricky one from memory.

I remember when I had an XE had a hammer beside the seat to hit the starter motor to make it work. They were easy to get to not like EA onwards
BA's are easier to change than AU's but, with all the heater hoses on the right hand side now. I never do the top bolt up very tight, makes it easier for next time. Sometimes takes me 20mins sometimes an hour depends on that top bolt |

have you tried wiggling the gear stick? the inhibitor switch on the trans may be playing up, or did he also try grounding out the starter to see if it would turn over? try the gear stick thing first, it may save you having to buy a new starter just yet

well it WASENT the starter motor racq are so friggin dodge..
the power steering pump was leaking onto the alternator and in the end their was so much fluid in the alternator it just stoped dead lol all fixed now got new pump and alternator!
