Are the rocker covers for the strokers the same as the little old 5.0s? Pm on it's way just in case.

Gents - sorry, I've exceeded my PM limit for the day.

Nah...it's not like it's a secret, so here's the info that would've been in a PM!

Here you go - check the details in this post.
http://www.fordforums.com.au/showpo...76&postcount=20

And here's a link to the Ford Motorsport catalogue - you want page 129, and take note of the notes; you can only use the ones that are for EFI for the truck motors.
http://www.fordracingparts.com/download/catalogs.asp

The bad/sad news is that ONLY the Ford Racing ones will actually fit (please refer to note in catalogue, or see bits below in blue). So none of the Ford motorsport, or Cobra ones etc will fit (I think).

The good news is that you can get them off ebay for around AUD$250 delivered. They are more than double that through Raceparts in Qld (not their fault though - they would be paying duty, adding retail markup etc). With the exchange rate as good as it is at the moment, buying from the states is the way to go - just make sure you include insurance on the postage.

Also keep in mind that you will need a 1/2" phenolic spacer to get the intake manifold to clear without mods. Or if you are really brave, you can bend the tubes under the manifold to move them out the way a bit (careful you don't break them though - I did, and sealed with windscreen sealant as the pipe I broke was vacuum, I think!!!).

Enjoy!

Ford EFI rocker covers (on eBay)

Some more info from the catalogue:

CUSTOM VALVE COVERS
Give your Ford that fast, furious look with custom-designed Ford Racing valve covers. All are baffled, and you can choose from a variety of finishes and distinctive logos. “Tall” Ford Racing valve covers M-6582-E302P/R302/T351/Z351/R351/C460/R460
are designed to clear roller rocker arms and polylock nuts. None of the other valve covers can be used with roller rockers without modifications. None of the valve covers on pages 128 and 130 can be used on engines with electronic fuel injection, except M-6582-D302. See page 129 for EFI valve covers. Most of the valve covers on pages 128-130 are “50 States Street Legal” when installed with appropriate closed PCV hardware (included in package).

EFI VALVE COVERS
You can choose from a unique selection of Ford Racing valve covers, specially designed to provide clearance for EFI intake manifolds. None of the other valve covers can be used with roller rockers without modifications. M-6582-D302 for 5.0L/302 EFI engines consists of a pair of valve covers only, featuring a lustrous chrome finish. The valve covers are available in either black satin or polished aluminum, and include a pair of valve covers and an oil filler cap. You can equip your 5.0L/302 EFI engine with three different styles (“Cobra,” “Mustang” or “Ford Racing”). Only one style (“Ford Racing”) is available for the 5.0L/302 EFI and 5.8L/351 EFI truck engine.

JCs Note: That last bit is the important bit, as it is the truck covers that you want, not the ones to suit the mustangs etc - our "Explorer" manifold is a hint as to why.

M-6582-D302** 1986-93
For 302 EFI

One last thing, the only ones that I KNOW FOR SURE that will fit are the M-6582-A351R ones; if you get these, you will need a blanking plate to fill the hole in one of the covers (it just gets held on with gasket silicon stuff; black silastic). I got mine in the same finned finish as the rocker from Raceparts, so it looked OK. Also, these ones mean that you fill the oil on the other side of the motor (passenger side). It appears that any of the others may leave you with the fill tube under the manifold (not ideal), but maybe I just can't see properly.

I have Edelbrock ones on mine and they do fit, however that is onto Edelbrock heads. They do look like theyd fit GT40P's though.

It's the more or the less that could be the issue. Would be great if someone could confirm the the Trickflow or Edelbrock ones do fit standard heads and under the standard manifold.

The Edelbrock ones do fit under the manifold (however I do have a spacer in there), and they come with holes in both sides. I put a plug in the one under the manifold (drivers side) and bought a breather that they offer seperately for the passenger side - to fill with oil i just pull the breather out then put it back in.

I've heard rumours that there are clearance issues with the stroker engine. Something about fuel rails. Can anyone confirm?
