Default Q"s on springs

Had my wheels off the other day and it looks like my rear coil springs are installed upside down? the pack of 4-5 coils closed together for strength is sitting facing up to the parcel shelf and the other end sitting on the diff.
i always thought the pack off coils together was for the bottom so when you hit big bumps it absorbs em!
i expected it to be a bit harder than superlows but it shouldnt be bouncing or bobbing like cut springs, would the spring being upside down cause that?

It's pretty hard (near impossible) to install them upside down. In fact, I would suggest that the progressive rate end of the spring should be up the top - they are on my NF.
