A stinger would be more effective, can't imagine shooting down a chopper with an RPG would be easy.

Victoria Police used to use their Dauphins to check vehicle's speed on the Mornington Peninsula and up past South Morang (especially during the holiday season).
Unsure if this still goes on.

The Moorooduc road chopper signs and lines on the road are still there, however the new roundabout halfway through the detection zone kind of defeats the purpose. |

Yes they still use overheads on the Moorooduc Road and along the beach between Mt Martha and Mornington which is another notorious race track. Summer months you can see them hovering. | [/url] |

i say good on them,
Perth has a shocking reputation for drivers who refuse to obey the road rules, a recent insurance company survey said that 84% of perth drivers regularly disobey road rules purposefully. if people are that stupid, the cops have a hard time catching all 84% so they can learn their lesson. the people they caught with the chopper weren't your usual 10k's over the limit type - more the racing down the road in an excel and crashing into a power pole type. maybe this will make the next gta tryhard hero think twice |

I've had the chopper on me a couple of times now, it kind of freaks you out when there is suddenly a giant spot light on you, I can't imagine that would be safe but every few weekends without a doubt he's back out with the spotty on.

Speed limits are ridiculously low in this country anyway.
More driver training, and less crap boxes on the road would be a good start.

i agree fully, but i'm sure if a chopper pilot could pick that you were speeding, he'd also notice if you were swerving over the raod etc.....to me it all comes back to getting more police back onto the streets, rather than leaving it all to constable kodak (revinue division).
it just really gets me when people winge about the police 'harassing' them for speed and questionable modifications and all the other things people bang on about. the police are just doing their job- well most of them are anyway.

I agree mate.
Although, with sadness most of the time the Police air wing is unavailable for "normal" police work, such as chasing offenders, etc. It usually has to turn back due to low fuel. Makes me wonder how much more tax payers are footing the bill for the aircraft to do this kind of activity. One would think Motorbikes (Solos) would be a more effective tool.

this is nothing new, in Victoria in the 1970's,you used to see white lines straight across Hi-wayand country roads all the time, one mile apart and cops would fly cesna's overhead and time how long you took to cross the next set and book you up the road after radioing the next hiway patrol cop on the ground
