Default p plate problemo

I know this might attract a lot of crap from everyone so just a heads up i dont wanna hear it..

here is my problem, i turn 17 in August, and also have way over the required amount of hours, but i wasn't able to get my leaner licence till december last year as i lost my passport, now i'd normally have to wait till december but im thinking of starting an apprenticeship or similar soon and want to get my p's when i turn 17..is there any way to get out of the 1 year requirement?

i feel really comfortable driving, like it comes naturally, i know you'll probably just think of me as another know it all teen but it aint like that

Dont know if it still exists but my brother got his Ps at 16. Was a special licence that allowed him to drive to work and tech. might be worth a try

Yeah I've heard of those aswell, if you can prove that you have no other way of getting to your work, if you're an apprentice, you can get a permit to drive to work and tech, but there has to be no local public transport etc.
Only ever heard of people who live 50km from the nearest bus stop getting it though.

won't bother then, but you can't really rely on public transport to take you to job sites, especially on the gold coast..

I will be interested in seeing how you go. What apprenticeship are you starting mate?

I too am on the gold coast and am thinking of an apprentiship but its things like getting there are stopping me.

you may as well try for an exemption. if that is not possible the four months will go pretty quick anyway. at least at the end of that time, it will seem that way
