Default Factory AU wheels

I'm curious to see if there is a database of all the different AU wheels, with info and photos?

Also does anyone know if wheels came out with names?

I started thinking about this after looking for some factory wheels for my AU, and found it difficult to find the ones I want.

I've been looking for Series 1 XR 16" wheels. Most 16s are the 5 spoke 'sawtooth' rims, but I'm looking for these ones:

Anyone have a set they wanna get rid of? Anyone know anything about these rims?

I've got a set of 17" series one XR wheels with tyres if that interests you? I'll even put them on for you if you want?

Those are AU SerI XR6 16" wheels. The SerII and III went to a 16" 5 spoke wheel, commonly called the Sawtooth. The 17" 5 spoke took two forms, i for Ser 1 and 1 for Ser II and III. The later wheel was fitted standard to the Ser III XR8, but an option on other models.

Correct MNM. The sawtooth rims were also standard fitment to series one S packs as well.

Yep they're cloverleaf wheels. A good place to look is the Wheelking website, has a fair few factory wheels and what they are off listed on his site. Ignore his ridiculous prices though!

Could you extrapolate on this? Are you saying you can get them cheaper than what its listed as?

I know the Wheelking website well, but I've never seen the Cloverleaf rims on the site. Would they know of where to get them?

Ive seen the above rim referred to as a Tickford 5 spoke or an AU1 XR8 17" rim.

suave, no i have no connection to wheelking whatsoever, what I meant was that you could use his website to identify the wheels then find them elsewhere. I know Wheelking gets his wheels through dealers because there was a story a few years back about how he bought a GTP and used the vin to buy wheels - sold the wheels off the car then FPV refused to give him another set because they found out what he was doing.

Just to add to the collection, these are the 16" rims that came with my S3 Ghia.

Dunno if they have a name...

I believe it's an ROH made for Ford.

edit: or maybe I'm thinking of another rim, lol.

I'll fight my way back into the shed and see if it "is* the one I'm thinking of.

edit2: yeah, they're the ones I had in mind

looks like an awesome wheel to me

also
i reckon the most defined AU wheels are the 18 spoke ones featured on the AUI Ghia/AUII Fairmont/AUIII Futura. Really make it look classy. I run them on my AUII Forte and it makes it look pretty good. I've even seen them on a few BA's - looks good on them too.

I still prefer the 'Classic' rims to the Futura rims.. the Futura rims are nice, but borring and not sporty. At least the Classic rims have a certain sportiness to them.

Mind you, I'd like something at least 16" :P You cant even come close to passing ya car off as sporty with 15's. Doesnt really matter what else you do, it still just looks like a molested Forte.

My old mans Ghia has these 17", i reckon they look pretty good, would be nice in an 18", sort of like the azzuro T3TE wheels.

These wheels below are 16" - the ones that a previous post mentioned. S1 Au Ghia wheels, had em on my mum's old futura. Look Great!

Yeah my mum used to have an Amaretto coloured Forte with the standard forte grille, spoiler, and Ghia wheels. As much as the standard grille looks a bit second rate, the Forte grill with the multispoke Ghia wheels actually looks fairly decent. Unfortunately that was written off after about 2 months of ownership. We hit a concrete barrier at a 45 degree angle at 110km/h after getting nudged by a girl who didnt look before merging.

Yeah the the forte grill looks ok with the multispokes, matches quite well.

The au can look really great on the 16" sawtoothes, if lowered quite a bit and without excess bodykit. Real fat and clean.
