Default Fairmont vs XR steering rack

My dads AU3 Fairmont Ghia's steering rack is buggered and so looking for a secondhand one, but i read somewhere that the steering rates were different on the Fairmont. It looks like i can get an XR rack, but will he notice the different steering rates? is it such a big deal?

He won't notice the difference - it has better "feel" but is definitely not that much heavier so that most people can't tell the difference.

Well the dealer has located another rack so will get it in soon. but talking to the dealer, they said that all the I6s had the same racks, and the V8s has a different rack. so even more confused now? which is it?
