Default Exhaust setup on AU XR8

Hi Guys,

Im hoping to get my new exhaust soon.... Just wandering if anyone knows how hard it will be to set up a quad system like the BA's... Obviously its gonna be a twin 2 1/2 with double tips....

Has anyone done this to there AU before?

Any ideas? Opinions?

Cheers

Can't do it. The fuel tank is in the way.

If it's a ute, then it's another story.

i have seen it on a S3 with the rebel bumper and it was run inside the bumper across to the other side of the car .
It was wrapped in exhaust wrap and it looked great but i dont know if it matters about the extra length in pipes from 1 side to the other?
Im pretty sure that it was done by APC in Wangara

haha, yeah, but if you look at the pics of his fuel tank setup you will see why. it's in the space where the spare wheel used to go pretty much. the whole rear end has been modified

on the other hand if you had straight lpg and a tank behind the seat you could ditch the petrol tank and have a proper twin system. it's a pity the au's petrol tanks are designed the way they are and not like the ba ones that are under the rear seat....

Also, should i get Di Filippo Headers or pacemakers? My plans are heads, cam, new intake manifold etc... Should i get 4-1s or tri-ys? Would 4-1s be a good mod regardless of charging or strokering? Or get tri-ys......

there is no problems doing a twin system like this and then putting twin tips on to look like a quad and the extra length in pipes from 1 side to the other is not a problem as long as they put a balance pip in the system some where after the cats as that equalizes preasure on both sides to account for the extra lengths i have seen many cars done with twins like that down my area and the sound good

The Di Filippo and Pacemaker 4-1s are quite different in size.

The Pacemakers are small-ish 1 5/8" primaries and 2 1/4-ish collectors. I haven't seen a set of Di Filippo's, but I believe they are 1 3/4" primaries and a larger collector...

I love the 4-1 Pacemakers in my 5L, but i've never tried the tri-ys. On a near standard 5L AU engine, I think the 1 1/2" primary tri-y Hurricane headers would be pretty good as well.

How would the Di Filippos affect 1/4 mile or 0-100 time? Would they make up for the lost low down?

I havent put it down the 1/4 but it feels about the same....just a slight change in note.....personal perference I think....4-1's look much better and atleast with Difillipos it leaves the option open for supercharging which is why I went to the larger style Difillipo model!!!

Cheers Rory
