Default Immobilser light flashing car won't start Any Ideas

As the title says my XR8 Pursuit 250 won't start and the immobiliser light is flashing on the cluster. The starter wont wind over and there is no power to the remote locking, windows, interior light. The is not even any clicks from anywhere whenthe key is turned. It says in the owners book that it has immobilsed the engine and that it has to go back to the ford dealer. Anyone had this problem before and fixed it without going to ford. Can you clear this with just a scanner. Thanks

should be able to clear it with a scanner, that's all ford would do. have you tried disconnecting the battery to see if that resets the smartshield system?

I have had that problem. Ended up being both the PCM and BCM needed replacing as they were not registering with each other. Auto elec fixed it for me. Take it to one and see if they can scantool it for you. Maybe it will come up with a few error codes and they can clear them for you.

Have you tried a spare key? Maybe the transponder in the key you are using is hot? Its worth a try.
