Hello All,
I know this has probably been done a few times, but would a 5.4L engine physically fit into an AU Xr engine bay? Would it be much larger than the engine that Cat600 put into his T series? Cheers |

It's bigger but it can be done as I have seen it done.
If you really want a mod engine the 4.6 is the way to go though.

i asked this same question last year on here, the final answer i got was that the AU would be nose heavy and a pig to drive with a boss motor in it.

I am actually considering a raptor S/C kit as well, but I am unsure of whether it will affect getting the through rego?
Has anyone been through the process of fitting a S/C to the car and what they had to get done to pass rego? |

A number of blokes here have put superchargers on their cars, particularly I6s, but quite often the SC and gear appears for sale a number of months later.
Not sure exactly why, but it appears to be something that people can't get absolutely right. I've also noticed that there's a number of SC'ed V8s around, and they have ended up the same way, or have taken a while to sell. I understand you want to do something different, but I suspect all that will do is cost you a packet (which really is overcapitalising for the I6), for no extra resale value later on, and give you a lot of headaches. Of course the car and hard earned cash is yours and the decision is all yours. I wouldn't do it though. I'd probably sell the XR6 and Get a AU 220 V8 with 5 speed and give that a few mild mods (exhaust, extractors, CAI) and be done with it. All the best with your deliberations. GK

You can thank the heavier AU IRS for that. There is no difference in engine location between AU and BA, as they have the same front crossmember and the same front suspension position.... so I would not assume that a BA "accepts" the Boss better than the AU because it was "designed' for it. There is no difference there Daniel |

Thats awesome info. Thankyou. I wonder what the F:R split would be on a Live Axle AU?

For the sake of comparison, I did a weight split back in '99 on a manual trans AU XR8 with the factory iron heads.... it was 54:46 and the car was 1720kg. By shifting weight in the split forward 2% by adding a modular (and that's not reducing weight at the rear just adding more at the front, that means that my T1 should equate to 1798kg, which is right on what i got at the weighbridge last year.
