Default Crack in head 2 LTR BALLS UP

Removed my head to find there was a visible crack between the two valves in number one. Would you say that it needs to get the *** or will be right for a little time. As money is a little issue at the moment its more just to get it rolling. In the future a proper head will be detailed. but for know will it last or detonate. The bottom end has 60 thou over pistons that i dont want to destroy this is my other concern.

What do you think

Hi, in all my experiences with engines: If it has visible cracks or damage its not worth your time and effort in putting it together and risking a more serious failure with bent valves etc. Not worth risking the disappointment.

You'll spend a day or so putting it back together and need to buy a new head gasket will cost you some $$ and time.

I'd also go to an engine workshop and ask their opinion, then you can get a free quote and go from there.

Good luck with it

You could take it to an engine specialist and have it repaired but that is not to say it will last. Usually only a last resort for heads that are hard to find. 2 litre motors are still around, I'm sure someone near you has a head thay will part with at a reasonable price. pm me if parts are too hard to find. Don't blow your engine for the sake of a head.
