I'm pretty sure ABS was standard on most AU's?

ABS unit sits next to the fuse box on the drivers side. That there looks like the Horn and the Aircon piping.

I should also add that in your photo the ABS unit is missing, so sadly, no, you dont have ABS.

Has anyone noticed that the Coolant reservoir tank has no low coolant sensor? I thought the series 1's had them and 2 and 3 didnt? Maybe its a series 1.5?

I hate to throw the thread off track, but it seems the original question has been resolved.

I have an early series 1 and I have a low coolant sensor in my reservoir. However I have seen a few series 2 and 3 engine bays and I have seen no sensors in the reservoirs. I was wondering if 906FRD had a 'Series 1.5' ie: the series 1 update.

Does anyone know definitively which cars have the sensor in the reservoir and which cars dont?

S2 and S3 forte does not have a sensor either.

Usually only fairmont and + has the sensor.

illuminates when the engine is running and the coolant level drops below the required level, the specified coolant mixture should be added immediatly

My Series 3 Fairmont Ghia doesn't have the sensor in the reservoir.

I assumed that is because it will shut down cylinders in an overheating event?

The low level coolant sensors are on all cars. I have a S2 ute and the only reason it has the sensor in the reservoir is because i added it to go with my XR dash cluster.

Umm no, not every Ford has one,
Also, Kristo was asking whether the sensor picks up the difference between water and water/coolant, which it doesn't.

series one update was around august 99. mine is also feb 99 and doesn't have the sensor, although occasionally the light in mine comes on because it's got a mind of it's own.

You have hit the nail on the head without even knowing it. Some Series 1 AUs had a drama with the coolant level light coming on from time to time on vehicles not equipped with this function or sensor. A fix that Ford tried for a while was to fit sensors to them. It never really worked properly. After that they had us removing the 'loop' fitted to the unused coolant sensor connector on the loom and earthing one of the wires. From what I can remember, this fixed the problem.

Havent read the thread but I just have to add.....

Lift your shirt and check for 6 or more bumps on your stomach region. If you have these you most likely have Abs.
