hi,
just for curiosity sake, i've got and 98 xr6 vct, and i want to know if anyone has any theories as to why ford put a dual system on the vct's but to only have one outlet with the second pipe above it behind the bumper, and in latter models to block off the end altogether. i only ask as i had to replace the rear section so i just had an exhaust joint continue the duals to the back and remove the rear muffler altogether. since only for do the original spec system and they wanted 600 for it. so just wanting to know what was the whole point behind the dual system?

It was cheaper for Ford to use the XR8 system for the VCT I6, as it's the only IRS rear axle in the I6 range. Using both pipes would lose too much torque, so they blocked one off.

fair enough, but why didn't they block off one of the pipes in the first place instead of latter on in the life cycle, thought they would of figured it out in their product development?
