Didnt realise it was a baby boomer. It will sooner or later be pentioned off and stuck in a nursing hime (my garage will be one of them) but a shame, a real characterful engine especially with a hairdryer stuck on the side.

Congratulations, Ford,

with your oldest child's birthday. I hope you will have many more celebrations like these, and that your next year will be a successful one

What about the red motor, that was pretty good, remember Brocky with a 202 cubic inch (3.3 litre) and served it up to the V8's.

Ford must hate its child, they did nothing to celebrate its birthday in the engine plant, not so much as a mention of its birthday.

You're righ mik, I just meant that they served it up to the V8's. They did win other races besitdes Bathurst and they did beat lots of other V8's over the line for minor places.
All in all they were still a great motor.
Anyway, happy birthday to the Ford 6, my favourite was the 250 2v. A friend had one in an XB manual, did it go or what.

That's pretty crap, they could have done something. Although it scores a mention in the tail end of the Ford media release about the Falcon's 50th.

I was getting frustrated when bolts were breaking on the exhaust manifold of a 170 the other day, then it occurred to me that it's 46 years old! Plenty of the old girls still around and kicking, some without a rebuild, says a lot about the quality!

happy birthday dear ole' i6.
they tried to kill if off several times but it would just come back even stonger
absolutly bulletproof

my grandparents towed a large caravan around australia twice in a 13yo(@ the time) XA wagon with only regular services....... and it is still on the road today
that old 250 just refuses to die
