thanks heaps man but i cant really tell in the picture whic way around part number 9 is meant to sit, if i bolt it down with part 9 cupping towards the strut so it squashes the rubber, the noise is fixed, if i have it cupping towards the roof of the car theres play in the strut and it knocks

by bowl to the top you mean it could be filled with water or the water will just run off it

it should be oriented so that it would "fill with water" so to speak.

Cheers

You will need to fit a spacer washer between the mount (#10/11 above) and the "dish" washer (#9) - the stepped section of the strut is too long (or conversely, the mount inner sleeve is too short) so "dish" (#9) bottoms out on the shoulder before it clamps down on the sold centre sleeve of the mount (#10/11). Make sure the spacer washer will fit over the shoulder section but does not overhang the solid centre of the mount. If you turn the "dish" (#9)over all you are doing is locking up the upper mount.

Quick sketch to explain the above;

Drawn from memory so may not be 100% correct in all detail, but near enough for you to get the idea.

This was an issue from day one and is the most common reason the rear mounts fail - you would have most likely seen your old mounts had a oval centre hole rather than round when you replaced them....
When we had failures during warranty periods we did this as an 'in field' service modification when fitting the replacement mounts.

Cheers

James

Spacer is supposed to go under the top nut, ie ontop of the dished plate. Prob wont make too much difference though.

have a good look at the picture. on top of the washer won't do anything.it has run out of thread,so to speak. i drilled out my 'curved' washer so when more washers,also larger than shaft, were used they did not hit the step in the shaft

It may be different on the Konis, but this is exactly how my TS was.
