i hope this is the correct area for this thread.
i have recieved a couple of fines recently (unrego, uninsured) and on the fines they have written down the incorrect rego number (they put ###-W## instead of ###-M##). can anyone shed some light as to wether i would have any chance of getting off because of this clerical error? cheers, |

Mate I'm not going to rag on you for doing the wrong thing, I've done some wrong things in my time, but if you wanna play you gotta be prepared to pay.
Personally, I'd just say fair cop and take responsibility for my actions. |

This is NOT an expert opinion, but for what it is worth,
If the fines are based around the car being unregistered, then I don't think the differing rego numbers will carry that much meaning (unless you could prove that the correct rego number was legally valid at the time of the infringement). |

Administrative error that can be ammended if necessary - they have your correct name and address though - not worth the hassle of going through a court process - I'd pay up and be done with it.
pps - don't forget to pay the registration and have a vehicle insured next time. |

I know in SA you can if you get a copy of the report and any of it is wrong its instantly void.
My old man got done for not wearing a seat belt when he was and there were witnesses to back up his statement. We got a copy of the report to take to court and it said he was traveling north on Cross Rd......................Cross rd runs east west and being Adelaide is a completely straight road

I wouldn't pay, as it could be a clerical error and intended for some other bugger but your and his info has spliced(or something) query tye fines and point out the stuffup, I think you'll get out of paying. If you really did commit the offences, I think you should cough up though. I hate unregistered drivers if they do it intentionally. I've been a say or two out of rego and simply had not recieved my renewal. Usually just jump on the iPhone and Internet Bpay it on the spot(did it in front of cops once when I got pulled over, they let me off, I was a day out, they thought I was great!)
